Hi

I am currently in week 4 of Veg from cuttings and my ladies are looking great. i want to know when i go from my 18/6 veg cycle to my 12/12 flower cycle for the first time change is it better to extend the dark time from 6 - 12 to get them going on the new cycle or is it better to reduce the 18 hour light to 12 to start the off on the flower cycle?

i was thinking extend the dark to start them off because its the sleep time that induces flowering right? im a noobie so any help would be great.

Thanks

Eve - What starts the plant flowering is the first dark period of 12 hours or more. Reset your timer during the first 12 hours of a 18 hour
"light on" period.

Here's a few things that a grower should be thinking about when a grow is around 4 weeks vegging --

A. Have you figured out how tall you want the plant to be? Remember when gauging these distances that your plant will fry if too close to
the bulb. You can figure your plant will grow to 150-200% of it's height after switching to 12/12. If you can see that you may end up too close to the light
you should top the plant while it is still vegging.

B. Are you using veg nutes mixed with the water? If so you will want to flush her when you turn to 12/12. Reason is to leach out the veg nutes before you
start the flower nutes.

C. After 5 weeks vegging your plant should be able to give up cuttings itself. If you like the plant now is the time to set up to take a round of clones.

D. Have you considered re-growing the plant after you harvest? On average - if you take a clone and veg for 5 weeks and flower for 6 weeks then harvest,
the same plant, re-grown, will veg for 4 weeks, flower in 5 weeks and yield 150-200% of the first harvest!!! I highly reccommend re-growing - it's free,
faster and produces more the second time around.

As a newby now is the time to get used to keeping a grow journal. Write down everything you do for future reference. I measure each plant every 3 days
until they stop growing during flowering. By keeping track of everything I do to my plants I can compare the actions to the result, the size.

Keep us posted. BigSteve.

IMO keep your lights on time the same (if it suits you) and adjust for 12/12 from there.

Personally I use grow nutes the whole way through the veg and flowering cycles.

At the bare minimum continue using your veg nutes for the first 2weeks after you switch to 12/12. This will keep your plant with a good amount of N during its stretch period.

Try to keep your plants happy and healthy and they will reward you with a good harvest.

I like to keep my plants green to the end. The NPK of my base nutes are 6-3-8.

Bigsteve, Jondamon this has helped me loads! thanks.

Bigsteve just to confirm then, the plants are all now around 11 inches tall, so i should expect a growth in flower of anywhere up to 22 inches?

I am also using House and Garden CoCo A & B, with multizyme, root excelurator, and root regen for the Veg phase and then Coco A & B again for Flower but introducing top booster and bud XL.

Will defo flush before flower, thanks for the cloning tips too!
