Light Dep or Mother Nature?

What’s up y’all.. i’m in So Cal. and want some ideas and guidance on whether to take away my supplemental lighting and begin to pull tarps for the next 8 weeks or take away my supplemental lighting and let mother nature do her thing.. i have some pretty monster plants that i didn’t think would take off the way they did and was hoping to light dep in feb march or april.. before the heat kicked in next year. they’re just too big at this point and just going to flip them now. i love in the city and in a residential/industrial area and i have neighbors that have porch lights and factory’s that have site lighting that may or may not cause issues. there is a light from a factory that’s probably some sort of cheap halogen or something that’s like 75-100 feet from my plant and maybe one neighbor porch light cfl.. and of course street lights.. 150+ feet away.

Will any of these cause my plants to herm? i know there is a lot of controversy on this.. but i’m all ears right now.. i don’t really wanna pull tarps but i don’t wanna throw away this potential either and i’m ready to build and ventilate the hoop house to the best of my ability. TIA!

I grew light Dep for several years up in Oregon. I used supplemental lighting in April/early May and Late Sept/Mid Oct. it helped me get three great harvests. IMO you can’t replace natural light, but supplementing it is good!

basically i want to know if they will have issues if i flip with out depping and ensuring a full dark cycle days are shorter than 12 hours for sure. like 10/11 right now and plan to take away my supplemental light..

i think i understand what your asking, how light is it whare the plants are going to be flowering?? how close are the street lights away from you??
can you see the area at night clearly or do you have to use a torch to see?
im not familiar with the problem of street lighting, but i know it can affect your grow

Well I now grow in my back yard hoop house and the neighbors all have lights. And I do use light dep plastic but only since it got colder. I am using it more as an extra layer or barrier to the cold outside. I didn't use the plastic until this year and all of my previous plants turned out fine even with the added night time lights from the neighbors. And in the hoop house this year, before using the light dep material, I had zero issues from the neighbors lights. Now I don't know how bright the lights you are dealing with. But as long as they aren't brighter than the full moon, you should be fine.
Good luck friend!

Plants grown under the sun become less sensitive to light interruptions even during flowering, an indoor plant can hermie off of a tiny light source.
