Light green leaves on top

First grow of Jock Horror. Everything was going fine until a few days ago when my biggest plant started exhibiting really light green leaves on the new blooms and burning on the edges of the fan leaves below them. Behind the plant in the picture is another plant from the same strain that does not show the problem. Same nutes, same soil.

My grow medium is a soiless mix of 1/2 coir and 1/2 peat moss with about 20% Miracle Grow Perlite (It's that fortified crap, I couldn't find straight perlite till just now).

Nutes are Fox Farm (Grow Big and Big Bloom). I have been mixing them as instructed on the enclosed chart but was doing a soil mix (I guess using this medium, I should of been doing the hydro formula, huh?).

PH was being kept at 7.0 but I have just recently dropped it down to 5.6 (after the proble appeared). My ppm meter shows levels just below what the Fox Farm chart says it should be.

I'm still using CFL's but want to switch over to 400 watts of MH. What do you all think the problem is?

kinda looks like a zinc defeciency to me..but those pics arnt very good..can you take more close to the leafs...peace az

I think ya may have given an over dose of nutes. Lay off the nutes for a week and see what happens. If ya see them yellowing up then feed them.

jsut keep an eye on it, yes your ph was high for coco, you want your ppm down a little for it too, usually about 1 point below recommended. As an example for rockwool in bloom my hydro book recommends 2.4 ec. For coco they recommend 2.2 ec. SOme times a leaf has gotten some minor damage and it never affect any others. The other light green is just new growth, I am sure you know that. Nice looking plants. VV

I did a flush last night with straight water at a ph of 5.7 and the odd thing was I was continually putting in water and nothing was coming out. The pot has drain holes and I had prepared the bottom with a layer of tissue paper and a 1/2 " layer of perlite a week ago when I moved it to a larger pot. I noticed the top was all soggy so I poked a pen through the drain hole and water came gushing out!

Either an air bubble had formed or the drainage holes were all plugged. My water must have been accumulating in the bottom of the pot thus also causing an accumulation of nutes! Just hope I caught it in time. I ph'd the run off and it measured at 4.5.

My other plants are still tiny (about 1/4 the size of the ones in the picture) but I am still nursing them all along. I only germinated 6 of my 10 seeds initially in case I screwed up and germinated the remaining seeds this week.

I'll adjust my nutes as you suggested and hope for the best.

wow you need to flush your plants with soome ph'd water,also how close is your light...peace az

Already done. The lights were about 2 to 4 inches (four 30 watt CFL's). I increased it to 8 inches already.

Flush seems to have worked. mant new shoots appeared and they are darker in color but still a little light. I also transplanted and will do one more fluch.

This plant sprouted February 28th and went into veg March 8th (really grew fast).

The problem seemed to work itself out and just wanted to see from some of you if this was attributed to nute burn. The plant is coming along nicely but still has some burn. I started thinking that the Miracle Grow Perlite and the nutes may have been a bit too much.

I'm still using CFL's (three 23 watt daylights and one 23 watt soft white) per plant but will be switching over to 400 watts of MH.

Plant transplanted to bigger pot and within two days, I had 4 inches of growth! Same soiless medium. Quite amazing. Still some damage from my error. It's about 10 inches tall. I plan to let it recuperate for at least another week, start taking some clones and then put it into flower.

Thinking about my next transplant in a soil mix and get away from the soiless (This scared me) and just doing water until the plant shows me it needs nutes. For a newbie, do you think I should do this or be brave and continue on?

good to hear its doing alot better. i'm also growing some Jock Horror so i'm interested in how yours will turn out. i'm personally doing a soil grow, their still under a week old though. so yours are about a month old now right? hows it smell so far?

It's getting there. Two of the biggest plants really smell so I kicked on my carbon scrubber. Smell really isn't an issue where I live but better to be safe than sorry.

I can only imagine it's going to get much worse when I put them into flower.

I've got some White Widows going that are having similar problems, except slightly more severe. Some of the lowest fan leaves are wilting up pretty bad, maybe turning a bit darker as well. I'm growing two with symptoms in an aerogarden. I've kind of noticed a white fungus that has developed on the roots that are exposed to the air in the AG. Should I transplant these to my other hydrofarm?

I've also got three in a hydrofarm setup, one with a lot of curling (although its growing well) and two with very small leaves and little green tint to them. Am I watering these too much? They're in pete moss, rock wool and hydrotin rocks. Water kicks on four times a day for 15 minutes? Temps are running around 84 at the base of the plant, CFL's about 4 inches away from the top of the big one. I'm using 1/4 the suggested amount of Hydroponics grow. I've got Fox Farm nutes I could switch to.

My plants in soil are kicking ass. I guess that's the way to go. less work anyway. The AG was good for starting though. As long as I can get at least one mother out of my 10 good plants I'll be happy!

I've got these going in two different cabs, and the smell in the basement is getting quite strong. I got a lysol time release, but I'm thinking I might need some ONA in a bucket like suggested in the FAQ. Once I switch to the HPS I'll be running the carbon scrubber. I'm kind of worried I might cook some of the plants. My grow space is about 5x4x2. Do you think a 400 watt HPS inline with a scrubber and vortex would cook the plants once they got too big? I guess I need some advice from someone that knows what they're doing.

Should I add some hydrogen peroxide to the water? I've got a bubbler, the plants are about 7 inches tall right now that are in the AG, the roots are getting pretty big, so they'll be coming out soon.

I'm doing a 1/2 coir and 1/2 peat moss so it's not a hydro. I found my PH is the medium was off so I corrected that (flushed the shit out of it). Also cut back on the nutes, this helped also.

I also did a foliar feed of 1/4 epsom salt dissolved in 1 quart of water (recommended in 1/2 but I went light in case). This really seemed to help.

SHIT! Didn't answer the H2O2 question. I don't know but from what I hear it is good (even for soil and soles growers). Just use food grade since the store stuff (the kind we use for cuts) has bad stuff in it for herb (inert ingrdients).

Thanks man, plants are doing much better, taking off in fact. I turned the hydro's on 24 hrs, and the nutes are kicking in. I haven't tried the H2O2 yet, no need now but I'm looking into it. Happy Growing
