light/heat burn?

hey guys, just after some opinions, can't decide if this is heat/light burn or down to the nutes, used nutes on them for the first time 2 days before i noticed the dried out leaves.

used a really tiny amount of nutes (biobizz organic)

here they are all together looking ok

how old are they? they may still be too young for nutes and how far away is the light ? If its to hot for the back of your hand its to hot for your plants

hi and thanks for the reply, they were pretty close, one of the household type CFLs i've got for sidelighting may of been touching one of the plants.

they're 4 weeks or just under, pretty small but i rekon that's down to not having enough light, got another big gorw light coming this week.

Nah those are old enough for nutes.. prolly okay if you used 1/4th strength organic

Looks like light burn to me.. back up an inch or two..

yeah cool :) backed off the lights today so hopefully they'll pick up, used 1/4 strength if not slightly less

What kind of soil are you in anyway? It may well be warmth o the cfl's being too close and drying the leaves out faster than they can replace the moisture. However I am still curious what you are growing in.

Those temps are fine as long as the bulbs are far enough away from the plant.

Still wondering what you are growing in....as in what kind of growing medium is it (looks like soil) and what brand?

it's just cheapo commercial stuff, my uncles gorwn many succesful crops in it so after my first grow messing up due to the soil i'll stick with it, bought perlite too but it seemed to dry out the soil straight away

Honestly that does not help me. So in turn it does not help you. We need the brand name so we can research how hot the mix is. What's in it? Any guano's, castings, or manures? If so...what kind.

Does this mix have any slow release crystals or anything in it? Thats how Miracle grow gets a lot of newer growers (cooks their plants).

Hell..lemme ask this...

Is the problem getting any worse?

seeds and growing in new horizon organic and peat free compost, its from wilkinsons and is their own brand i think, it mentions bonemeal, hoof and horn, vinasse and rock phosphate will feed plants for 4 weeks, other UK growers said it was alright

damage is still there on the worst plant but since i back off the lights they've been fine, deffinately getting better.

for my first grow i used westlant multipupose compost of added john innes nutrients (http://www.dobbies.co.uk/acatalog/westland-multi-purpose-with-john-innes.html)

still have like 50 litres of the stuff, need to get some more compost tommorow to repot into larger suare pots :)

Most of those pre fertilized soils have enough feed in them to last a seedling through its first 4-5 weeks of its life. That is fertilizer burn you are seeing there. Just water from now on to allow it to recover, and let the root area totally dry out between watering.

it was heat stress as far as i can tell, when i backed off the lights they started to heal, been increasing nutes ever so slightly since this happened too so i don't think it's nute burn.

the first compost i used (westland shit) burned the plants off when they were young which was down to all that shit that was already in it

just done some research on westlands multi purpose with added john innes and it gets an amazing write up from cannabis growers, going to use my left over 50 liter bag to repot

I have never seen fluros burn leaves the same was as nutrients does unless the fluro is literally touching the leaves.

yah dude i think on the worse plant it grew so quick in a few hours ended up touching a lot of the plant
