light hieght?

I have 12 plants that are about 8-9 inches tall. I am running CFL's but I am abotu to put in 2x 400w metal halides.

my question is.. what distance should I hang the lights from the plants. and do you measure the distance from the tip of the light or the tip of the hood?

about 12 inches. Or just hang the lights on hangers so you can easily adjust them to where you need them. hang the light than take your forearm do a test for heat, as long as your forearm can stand the heat so can the plants. make sure theres a fan blowing the heat away though. :joint::peace::peace:

cool. thanx for the info, I had 1 more question though

I am currently running them on 24/0 with floros, should I stick with 24/0 with the metal halides? or should I switch to 18/6?
