Light proofing question

Ok I'm ready to put my babies into flower but I have some minor light leaks in my room I need to fix.

Actually that is my question, how important is utter darkness during the off 12 hours in flowering. If I have a pinhole of light will it matter? In nature there is still minor light at night (moon, street lights, etc).

Thanks in advance

i hear u on the nature thing. but in your grow room. u shouldnt be able to see ur hand in front of your face. a pinhole might not make a big difference but it needs to be DARK, if not you could get hermies.

ive been told that a little light is ok(moon, bla bla), but the darker the better.

if you can see your hand in front of your face( after your eyes adjust to the dark)
its not dark enough.

play it safe and plug what you can and you should be cool.

duct tape and panda film works wonders when trying to lighproof. also if light is coming out ur area via fan or intake ports, you can easily build a lightrap with some cardboard.

i agree that is a very good question ive also thought about minimum quantity of light during the dark cycle seems some light wouldnt be bad but moon light is not direct light its reflected but i always keep them in complete darkness. would be somthing to do reserch on

a little light is NOT acceptable. your goal is 100% darkness. I also had "pinholes of light, and had hermies that seeded everything. Had about 300 seeds from 8 plants. very upsetting knowing that could have been -300 seeds and all bud. SO hermies will be created with tiny pinholes, and one hermie can ruin entire crop. get inside your room, and chill for 10 minutes. let your eyes adjust, you should see nothin.

wow thanks so much for a quick replies. I will make sure it's pitch black in there :-)

Hey billybob - how do you make a light trap? I have an fresh air inlet hole in the room, I was gonna cover it during lights out but a light trap sounds better.

just make like a 90 degree angle L box and cover the hole with it. like if ur light is coming from above make it so the top of tho box is on top and the open in is pointed down. if light is coming from below vice versa. i will get some pics tonight of a lightrap i made to seal off my vegbox from leaking into my flowering room.
