Light setting for trich examination?

I have some girls nearing harvest and some very well may quiet be ready. I'm having a hard time determining the cut though because of the trich confusion. I've noticed that trichs look different under different light settings.

For example: I have a 60x - 100x microscope and with the light that is installed on the device hardly shows the trichs clearly enough for examination. When I do see them they look anywhere from clear to amber, but i'm really thinking that the amber is because of the color of the light. However whats appears clear with the microscope light looks cloudy under a 1000 watt HPS bulb.

I have ran numerous tests with different bulbs including fluorescent, HPS, led and whatever light is on the device. They all seem to look different. What do I do? Which is recommended? I think this thread could help a lot of people to keep from a early/late harvest. I personally am having problems deciding on a few SLH haze phenos that have been flowering for 64 days. Pistils almost all orange on one but the trichs are tricking me. I even tested it and it isnt that potent at all.

if you start checking your trics early enough in flowering so that they are definitely clear...and use the same light source everytime you check you will see them change to something else from clear...so now you have what clear and cloudy look like under that particular light source...then just wait for some change again to get your amber...then you have a standard to go by from that light source

I hope that makes sense 8)

It's almost impossible to get good pics under HPS lighting. I always use a USB microscope that has it's own light, and I take pics just before the HPS light comes on.

Before I invested in a very nice (expensive) hand held jeweler scope I had a cheap ten dollar one.
I had to have help from a friend to hold a flashlight while I was checking.

I just use one of these

I think it was three or four dollars on amazon. It has a blue light and a white light. I look with both lights.
