Light suggestions for a 15x35in steel cabinet?

Hey guys I have decided to invest in an led grow light for my cabinet. Wanting to do a SCROG and was looking for suggestions on led lights from some people with experience. I'm thinking 300-450 watt would be good and my budget is 200$ so it'll probably be cheap China light

It depends how tall the cabinet is. If you're planning on growing 2 foot tall plants, 12W/sqft of PAR would be enough.

In a 3.75sqft footprint with 2 foot tall plants, you will need about 45W of PAR.

For a 40% efficient lamp, you'd need 112.5W of dissipation to get 45W of PAR.

For a 50% efficient lamp, you'd need 90W of dissipation to get 45W of PAR

The cabinet is about 5-6 ft tall and pants I was planning on doing short and bushy, 1.5-2ft

No reasons to avoid higher wattage cobs then. 2 72v CXB3590s powered by a HLG-120H-C1050 would provide much more light than whatever China light you can fit in there. If you don't want to spend the money on a pre-built you might be able to find that combo in a pin fin kit. Several retailers here offer them.

I know very little regarding cobs so any more detailed info would be appreciated. I'm also illiterate when it comes to electricity so that's why I was leaning towards a pre made led panel.

The kits avoid needing to drill and tap the heatsinks. You would need to build a frame of some sort but the wiring isn't difficult.

Do they screw into a standard socket? And also do they require some kind of ballast? Or just a lamp would do?

They're heatsinks with holes pre-drilled for the LED chips. The kits come with power supplies. You would build a frame out of aluminum and mount everything on it. Maybe one of the retailers or forum members that have used them can give you some specifics.

I'm surprised nobody has chipped in. Some retailers sell the individual components, some as kits. Check with Cutter Electronics, Pacific Lighting Concepts, Timber, Northern Grow Lights.

If you want a nice pre-built check out the T2-2100 at TastyLED :) Perfect for a 15x35 space with some head room.

@420noobie You could do some strip lights from Samsung mounted to the top of the cabinet caretak3r did a thread on them very cheap under 100 dollars for 185 watts more than enough power for that sized space. Then you could have veg below your flower chamber using Samsung hard strips as well. The thread with all the info is here https://www.rollitup.org/t/samsung-hard-strips.908616/

The next light mini using the same tech yet costs 600$

@420noobie dude seriously look into diy go on you tube to growmau5 channel any idiot can figure it out trust me, not calling you an idiot though. You can get 2 cxb3590, heat sinks, driver, wires, Tim, and soldering iron for well under 200$ hit up realstyles or greengenes they both sell individual components on their websites. That cheap Chinese crap will only last so long if your going to spend 200$ at least get some quality components that will last a long time
