Light Swapping on Hot Days?

As I see a couple of very hot months approaching. I have read numerous posts where people talk about using the lights at night and not during the day. If the goal was 24 hour veg lighting, I wonder if there is positive experience switching the lighting method (T5s or CFLS during the day/MH at night)...and how much heat saving could be had. Thoughts?

T5s
4 foot bulbs are 5000 lumens
2foot bulbs are 2000 lumens

CFL
the best veggie light is 1800 lumens normal is 1600 lumen

HID
a 1000w is in the range of 110000 lumens......... a 600w is 55000............ a 400w 36000

noon.no cloud cover is 150000 lumens
noon in shade/over casted sky is 100000 lumens

as for running 24/0 it is more then do able but i have seen better results on a 20/4 time table that 4 hours off seems to help it more then just leaving the lights on (did the test 18/6 20/4 24/0 ..........with Co2 and without)

Was your "results" criteria just the final one?

20/4 was the best

the buds were frosty and dence .................u can get more frost from the 18/6 but it is 50/50 dence hard to fluffy buds
the 24/0 got me the most weight and about 65/35 dence to fluffy

Co2 makes a big different u can almost double the normal grow with enriching the air with Co2 (since i was using a mash bucket for Co2 i would leave the lights on for 24/0 during that time ...........since i could not stop and save the Co2 for when the lights were on)

I run CFL,s 2 I run about 20 26 watters for canopy a 6 42 watters for side lights on hot days as a last resort I kill my side lights makes a good difference in temp. I also run a 190 cfm fan I really thinking of upgrading that due to my temps running on the warm side peaking at 87ish on a bad day

My girls stayed out all day until the temperature reached 107..in the shade of course..they saw sun from 7am til 6pm
now they're in the gr getting 11 hrs of light per day.

Metal Halide is pretty efficient for lumens per watt. Dawm Near HO flouros. So if you think running flouros will save you a bunch of btus think again.

Also Metal Halide bulbs are easier to air cool.

Yeah, kind of discovered that over that last couple of days, as I pulled my MH reflector and replaced with a bunch of CFLs during the day. Although I saw some difference it was negligible and pretty much validated what you say as well as the fact that might my light-heat is not really what I needed to be attack. Thanks all.
