Light Warrior question - sprouting issues

I've wasted two expensive beans in this thing. This is a first time I'm starting seeds in it. Does anyone have any tips? At this point I have absolutely no idea if I'm over watering the damn thing or if it's not enough of water. I have it in the solo cup, I usually just spray water on top of the soil instead of pouring it on. It looks like the water does not penetrate the medium really quickly when I spray it on, you can clearly see it just sitting on the top of it so I just simply remove the excess by tipping the cup. Again, any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Do you wet the soil before planting the seed? Do you cut drainage slits in the cup? Also, do you keep the cup in a fairly warm place?

The two most important things for a seed to sprout are moisture and warmth, if you don't have enough of either, your seed may not sprout.

I put the seed in the dry LW and then spray water over it, I've done it multiple times in a regular soil with 100% success rate. I don't know wtf I'm doing wrong here, I'm super annoyed.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think the problem may be that Light Warrior is peat based. If that's the case, peat isn't great at absorbing water when dry, I had a similar issue using a a peat based seed starter from Jiffy, so spraying the top isn't enough.

So with the LW, fill your cup, water thoroughly, then plant the seed and you should have some success. I can only assume the seeds are viable and the problem is with the medium.

And FYI, coco coir is an awesome medium for starting seeds.

You need to take the LW and place it in a container and pour water in to it and let it sit for a few hours. Let the peat in the LW soak up some moisture. I usually do this a day or two before I use it. Condition it before use. I have no issues at all using it. Just make sure to start using weak nutes after a using LW for a week or so, or transplant to real soil. Good luck!

I'm a total knob for not doing this, it even says on the bag. I have now two beans in it since this morning, should I just pour some water on the thing to try to save these or am I essentially fucked?

If the LW is dry, add water to it. If the beans are not popped yet take them out and condition the LW for a few hours and start over. I put my seeds in between paper towles that are weted with RO water and a very weak mixture of DynaGro K-L-N rooting compound. And my seeds take off like crazy. Once roots are an inch long...thats when i transplant to wet LW. GoodLuck! These seeds in pic are 48 hours from start...SinCitySeeds Galactic Jack........
