Price and heat are my biggest concern. Cobkits gave me the idea to go Eb gen 2 strips. I'm thinking 2footers I like 3500k. Not sure how many and what driver. Let me know you guys think. Please and thank you.

3500k hits the blue peak at 100%. 3000k is about half. I recommend 3000.
Driver depends on how you wire it all..you'll need 480-600watts.
I would build 2 22"x44" fixtures. Much easier to control hanging heights and gives you some versatility.
But you'd be set with either 2x 320s or 240s

Try to just buy more strips over heat sinks, I’ve been pricing eb gen 3 build and the heat sinks would cost me enough to double my strips. Food for thought. Also if price is a huge concern see if those Samsung $5 strips are still around, probably one of the cheapest options, not very efficient but it’s cheap

Go with the 4 foot, half the strips means half the wiring. ;-)

I suggest 12 of the 4 foot strips and an HLG-480H-42AB or two HLG-240H-42AB. At that power level, the strips need no heat sink whatsoever, nothing.

4' strips are an option. Still able to build 2 fixtures of 22x44"

Oh no no no no no no my friend. Those $5/$29 strips are long gone from Arrow and I very highly doubt they will ever be seen in stock again. They done hook line and sinkered the people who bought them. The constantly, randomly, almost weekly price fluctuations, caused them to drive demand for them and I'll be damned if they didn't sell every single fucking one of em'.

Ahh well they got my ass, they work atleast. I’m running them super low atm for clones and shit.

I'll probably go 480 I have an HLG 240h c 1400b can I use that ? I'm definitely going to build 2 fixture thanks for the advice. My question is how many strips and can I get away with thin aluminum ?

Like a aluminum plate or strips of aluminum? Thickness is the concern?

Will that pull 480 watts? Can you post a link of to the strips I can't find the right ones ? 3OOO k

Will angle aluminum work from home depot ? I know the prices are shitty but I do have a card there.

Yes, 480W. I don't see any 4 of the foot in 3000k, but here's links.

Hypothetical if I run them without a heatsink will they run hotter ? Also what would I mount them too. Thanks for the help I feel like a noob with the strips stuff.

they will evenly distribute heat so same heat 10 would make 20 would make just each board would be cooler ie 10 at 40c now 20 is closer to 20-30c (just a example don’t hold me to it)
So you could use aluminum angle or T slot from 8020 if you want to have some ease they are pricey though
