Lighting and distances

Hey all I am using a hps 150 for both the veg and flower times. i was wondering how far you guys keep your fellas away from the light. I have the same bulb that came with it.

I keep mine right around 11 inches away form my tops. If you can hold your hand right at your plants tops & it doesnt burn your hand its right where it needs to be. If not back it off until you dont feel to much heat. :)

;) I would. ;) cause you wouldn't want your ladies ending up burning, or wilting because of it. know hat I mean? Like said, if to hot for your hand, more then likely its to hot for the plant. I do that from time to time (feel) and if I think its to hot I just back off an inch or so until it isn't. I like the strains that don't stretch much during in flower, that way you can eliminate having to move your system all the time. : )

Nice nice thank you i raised it up and I'll see if any damage occurs tomorrow morning. I wish i knew what seed it was i picked up a bag of some real skunky stuff and there was a seed all i know is that there's crystals already forming on the leaves :)

Realistically a 150w hps has about 12" of light penetration.

I keep my 400w about 8" off my canopy.

is the 150 in a air cooled hood/tube or you running in a open hood? I dont run any little hps's but i do run a 175 MH bare bulb for clones fresh out of Ez-cloner before they go under 600mh's. I can basicly almost let them touch the bulb if i want.

I overgrew my my space last round and had 3 extra plants that I ended up putting undet a 150w bare bulb hps. Just had a fan blowing directly on it. Had one suffer some stress whrn I forgot to watet fo over a whole week. One grew into the light and got a slight crisp to it. For the most part it was within 5" of the plants with no ill effect. A 150w hps is not going to bleach leaves either.
