lighting and nut problems!!! Help me please...

I have put some clones into flowering that I had gotten from A buddy and I don't know if my nuts are all that great! I am using ionic nut's and A 400w HPS. Are the nut's all that great and should I put them under A 600w HPS? I am looking for some advice on what to do, I would like to get nice large buds were as he is also running 2 400w HPS over his trays and all his buds are like pop corn size. Is it something he is doing wrong?

Seems like a problem with your nuts.... I mean.. NUTES. The 400w your using and what your buddys using to flower are definately not the problem, its enough light for more than one plant. What is your NPK ratio on the nutes your using? should read something like 10-30-10, 10-50-10, (You want to use nutes with a higher phosphorus ratio during flowering -the middle number) Hope this helps

for there bloom the rate is Ionic® Bloom 3-2-6 and from what I am being told is that the real ratio is 30-20-60. I am almost ready to switch to the nova series by gh. Any advise would be great!!!

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!! wrong numbers for flowering pal, the less nitrogen your plants absorb during flowering the better. Nitrogen (The first number) helps the plants during their vegetative stage, but if you give too much during flowering your buds will be tiny, kind of like what your experiencing now. Nitrogen promotes rapid stem and leaf growth whereas Phosphorous (the second number), promotes the growth of the shit you need. Like I said before, during flowering, only feed your plants with a supplement where the middle number is the highest in ratio, phosphorus is king.

Doesn't get much simpler than this.
