Lighting and square footage question.

I just recently bough a SecretJardin grow tent. It is the DarkRoom120 which has dimensions of 120x120x200 centimeters (or roughly 46x46x78 inches). My question is about lighting. I understand that for best results you want 5,000 lumens/square foot. I plan on growing 4 plants, which I think is the perfect amount for this size of tent. I also plan on using a combination of MH/HPS for lights, but what I'm confused about is the square footage of this tent so I can find total amount of lumens I will need?

120 = 120cm or 1.2m.

1.2m = 4ft

So your room is 4x4x6ft6

Yoyr square footage is 4x4= 16sqft.

I have 2 dr120 secret jardin tents. I can run 6-5gal pots or 7-3 gal pots in there with a 600w light setup, pulling 17.65zips+ per harvest. vegged for 2 months, flowered for 10 weeks.

so you are only averaging right around 2.5-3.0 oz's per plant? that doesn't seem right.

600 watt hps lamp perfect for 4 plants for max yield. the 1000 watt is over kill . the 400 I don't like it .

I do apologize, but I don't reveal my true harvest amounts on the net. I may be in a legal state and with the max allowed patients, prying eyes still hover on grow forums and I don't need any unwanted attention from leo. I will tell you my prized strain pushes 4.5+zips per plant. I now flower in 5x10x6.5 room (was flowering in the 4x4x6.5 for 3 harvests) with 2-600w big kahuna hoods. :)

IMO with that tent you can use either a 600w or 400w.

1kw would be slightly over kill and you could possibly have heat issues.

I personally use a 400w in a room that measures 7ftx3.2ftx8ft. I utilise a 3.2x3.2 footprint and pull upwards of 400g. Haven't beaten 450g yet but I'm trying. Lol.

By using a bigger room with a smaller light it gives me greater control of my environment.

I grow 4 plants most of the time.

If you can control the heat, go with a 600 watt MH for veg and a 600 watt HPS for flowering. It'll give the best light distribution for a space that size.
