Lighting question

Hi all, new to this site so hello!
Been reading up on growing for a while now and actually looking into buying some kit now.

I'm having trouble on deciding what and where i can get the lighting i require.

So does anyone have any sites where you can buy fluorescent/metal halide lights with fittings etc relatively cheap? As i am a student and cant afford mega bucks. The light doesn't have to be big. 1ft should do as only be growing couple plants at a time due to space constraints. Also any help on recommendations to which nutrients / brands to buy best please will be helpful.

Will be either getting, big bud, ak48, or northern light.

If you just want to go small take a trip to menards/home depot for fluorescents. The only thing they don’t have are ballasts for hps and mh but they have the bulbs for them.

For nutrients I used miracle grow 20-20-20 (or similar) for grow phase 10-60-10 (or similar) for flowering plants. Brands shouldn’t make any diff. use at ¼ strength to start. There are several sites that will give you detailed instructions on this with a simple Google search. Good luck

don't know them live in uk b&q might do some special lighting though come to think of it ta.

sorry can you explain what you mean by spectrum of lights? :S

the amount of lumens, and kagen, in the actual bulb. both should be very high. try 6700k bulbs.

The higher end like 6700k or blue are for veg and the lower like 3100k or red are for flowering. you can get a cheap balast and bulb from 1000bulbs.com you will have to build it yourself but its way cheaper.

Look into HTG supply. I hear pretty good things about em. I would look into starting at least with a 250/400 watter.

I grew Big Bud Strain from nirvana its truly a high yeilder but i say its like mids not supa dupa weed. been smokin it for the past 5 months i cant wait to get some new new

if you have the money get some seeds from a good seedbank not nirvana as they are the lowest quaility ones
