Lighting Question

Hey,
One of my seedlings is growing well, I currently have 130w 450nm T5HO and a T5 65W 6500K. They are two different fixtures, both right over the plant.

The lights are on 24/0 and the seedling is growing sideways as if to reach the 6500K. Is my 450nm lights not contributing to growth at all? Otherwise it would just continue growing vertically I would assume.

Lights are 8" from it, growing dwc

Thanks

Sounds right to me, don't know what that other light is, but if your plant is reaching for the 6500K lamp I'd say she's trying to tell you something, I'm also a believer of plants needing some rest, better off 20/4, imo.

Yeah seems like she's reaching for the dominant light.

24/0 is too harsh imo.

Like above I go 20/4 or 16/8 dependant on prevailing factors.

I'll play devils advocate.. I live in a keeping it simple world.. I prefer 24 hour for my cuttings and veg for a number of reasons.. the least of which is it is impossible for me to fuck things up light wise.. heh.

What happens when you go 12/12?

Cool thanks. the other light is a 130W Actinic 460nm. The fixture that its in runs very hot, reason I asked first question was to see opinions on whether or not I need to run the actinics at all, I read some threads that they do contribute to photoperiod, but Im not sure about seedling stage.

Might be better off just replacing to a couple more CFLs til she starts veg? temp currently is 81-83, but if I turn that light off it goes down ~10 degrees. This is my first grow

I don't believe wether it's a seedling or full grown plant, are you saying that as the plant matures it's looking for a different spectrum? I supose that light may assist but by reading your plant I think it's trying to say something, just my opinion.
