I have a space that’s 11’ long x 8’ wide x 8’ high and want to make it into a flower room.
Was looking for some suggestions on lighting, I already have my exhaust and intake fans a humidifier and dehumidifier.
Was looking into mounting DE lights to the ceiling but I’m afraid I won’t get to utilize the height because the light will be too intense. Was also thinking LED’s but would need a few to cover that area.
I’m looking for some help or opinions from anyone who's willing to help or suggest what lights or how to set the lighting up. Thanks!

I would personally go with LED lighting. I run Growers Choice as lighting. I have their roi-e420 which I have covering a 4x4 and their roi-e720 which I have in a 5x5. Try ledgrowlightsdepot.com to look at prices. They have some decent deals. Hope this helps.

If you're going to use the whole space for plants you'll going to want between 3000 and 3500 true watts in LEDs. That's 35-40 watts per square foot. 4 to 5 of the bigger bar type LEDs would get you there and there's a bunch to choose from. Spider Farmer, Mars, Cultiuanna, Viparspectra and then there's the off brand Chinese lights you can find grew deals for in the Best deals thread on here. When you get some choices going and your trying to narrow them down, post them up on the LED thread for some advice. Sounds like a great room, I'm jealous :hump:.

Think I'd aim for a 3 foot corridor for access leaving 8x8x8 grow space , depending on where the door is.

That means 4x 600w LEDs or 4x 1000w se hps.
Don't know enough about DE hps to say if it suits your ceiling height.

So for me it comes down to your ambient environment.. is it generally warm, usually cool?
That would be my deciding factor .. Will I need to heat the space ??

I have heating and cooling cover room will be insulated, floor and ceiling also, intake and exhaust fans and a heater for when the room gets cool while lights are off.

My grow space is 4x2 ft and I use a 250w led and its perfect
5x4 here and I use 4x220 fixtures dimmed to ~640w for better uniformity.
Personally, I would say 500w to 600w per fixture should be enough depending on the chips for 8x8.

The aisle suggestion is a necessity imo. You will not enjoy trying to tend to plants that are beyond 3-4 ft away. If you can manage two 4x8 footprints with an aisle in the middle, then two mars hydro fce-8000's over each grow area for a total of four lights, would work wonders in your space. That's 3200w of burn-your-retinas-out full-coverage lighting. Each light measures about 45-46 inches square. Where is the door in relation to the 11 foot wall?

I was looking at different options. But my door has to be on my 8’ wall, so I was thinking of putting my door on the edge of the 8’ and 11’ wall leaving the aisle to run the length of my 11’ wall as a working area. I will be using an organic super soil mix in large totes Costco storage bins so I would have a canopy area of 5’x 11’ and my 8’ of height.

Rough sketch of what it looks like, the centre room will be the entry point to both rooms. My veg room is already in place and built but my flower room only has the walls up so far and is not finished, the entry door for the flower room is not in place yet
