Lighting setup

I have a 2foot 18W Grolux light
Will this grow my Mj or do i need more light.

Other then that i have a 32W Daylight CFL
and a bunch of 20W normal CFLS

I can get a additional 2foot grolux.

I have £40 i can spend on lighting.
Just want to grow as best as i can. All i have is bayonet light fittings and a few plugs. Too power lights.

I do not want to touch HPS or HID
I would prefer CFL or fluorescent

i ran a single plant set-up form veg- flower with 4 23w cfl soft white bulbs... but if you want better results you dont have much choice to upgrade to a better scale lighting...

Good advice HoH. The more light the better for plants mate, if you can get some supplemental lighting in there, do so. I tend to shoot for 50-60w/sq ft but that's by no means something to live by.

The amount of lighting you should use is mainly dictated by the dimensions of your grow room. 50 watts per square foot is a good baseline for a respectable yield, at least for HPS. You may want to go a little higher with CFLs, or at the very least, get as much of the plant material as close to the lights as possible, via training or small plant SOG.

It sounds like you are against the idea of using a HPS, but I should point out here that they are more efficient, in terms of light (lumens) per watt of electricity. You can pick up a 250w hps flood light on ebay (uk) for about £40, although you will probably want to adapt it in order to make it more efficient as a grow light, by removing the glass screen and extending the ballast out of the grow room.

I have no issues with HPS mate, got a 400 (or a couple) in the works for the next grow.

I was just unsure of what is available for 40 Euro as I live in Canada, obviously if you can get cheap HPS do it up

get a hps thats what i got and its doing real good i also got two uvb snake lights to add uvb light witch is also key to growing..all plants outside get uvb and the best bud in the world is from countries with the highest amounts of uvb
