nope, won't work. I know because I've tried it, the results weren't so pretty

if its an incandesent, no, it wont. you should look into compact flourescent bulbs or flourescent tubes. or high pressure sodium and metal halide if youve got some decent money to invest. led's are also another option but they are not as cheap as they should(and will get soon imo, new advances show up all the time it seems that make them more cost effecient)
