You can get by with that for now... Some growers will fill the room with 50 or more... Just depends on what you want to end up with yield wise. Some go overboard on lighting, be it HID, LED, CFL... Read up on this stuff and experiment with your grow...

Get the cfl's as close to the plants as possible - a few inches would be great. Cfl's veg plants great. You may want to look into other lighting to finish up flowering... On the other hand I've seen some real nice plants finish up with a bunch of cfl's... All kinds of theory as to which lights are the best to use... For that decision you need to read up on what people say - Then make your decision based on what your growing needs and situation are.

My last cfl grow was 24x26" . The roughly 2x2' hood had 24, 23 watt cfls and i had a few 42's down low. About 750 watts total. Thats about optimum for that space. And your talking about a whole room....

You can get a cheap hps off amazon like apollo brand.. but it takes some start up money unless you can go outdoors

Ya already got 250 in the whole thing and not looking to get too much higher cost wise. I've seen slot of good out of cfls so that's why im sticking with those they get good yield and cheaper to buy and run

You only have 138 watts. That will veg some small plants butnyour going to need more for flowering. At least double that id say. And probably more considering your not in a small reflected area.

My first flowering run inside was with about 200 watts of cfl and a 250 watt mh.

And cfls aren't any cheaper to run than hid if you have the same amount of watts.

How close can you get the lights together?
Thats how big yiur area should be. Yiu can fit 24 bulbs in a 20x26inch space. If you go more than 20" you need side lighting for good growth

I used to use cfls 300w on top and 6x 23w about 2 3rd of the way up the plant and did pretty good, leds are the future though, hid are brilliant but to hot, save up its worth it.

Its actually the other way around. The amount of cfl's needed to make up for a 250 watt HPS already cost more then the HPS not including the electric bill that almost doubles to get the same yield. Just thought i would let you know,in a friendly way, that you didnt infact save money.
