HPS generally create denser buds than CFL depending on grower skill.


if you're serious about growing you use HPS or MH or CMH lighting.

if you want to save on cost you choose CFL.

a combination of both will work too.

small HPS with supplementary CFL's

my honest answer is HPS for flowering .

there is no need to use hps when vegging out your plant. the first 4 weeks. regular flouresent lighting wil work just fine. i use one cool white and one day white on a 4 foot shop light. when it comes time to flower there is hps. and i think it works best in giving you enough light to grow a few plants when flowering

I'm about to start my first grow in a few weeks... Getting everything set-up as we speak... Going with a DWC setup probably going to start with 2 plants to test the waters.... I'm not sure what I'm going to do for lighting... I'm thinking 2-4 85w CFLs Half 65k and Half 32K for veggin.. Those would be the most expensive thing I would have to purchase, I'm an electrician and Have been doing warehouse renovations for a few months so I'm pretty much set for 400w Metal Halides and HPS set ups.. It's great our clients just throw these fixtures out..(they're replacing all the High Bays with new 6 Lamp T-5s 54w51k ) Luckily enough the ballasts are multitap 120/208/240/277/408... I'll be setting everything up in a 4'x4'x6' closet.. So I'll probably use the CFLs for veggin and the 400w HPS for Flowering... This is my first grow so I'll have to do something about circulation for the heat off the HPS Fixture.. Can't Wait!

600w HPS is enough for 4x3ft plants or 8x2ft plants or 15x1ft SCROG style.

No cfl required other than to get the seedlings or clones started.

you do not want to circulate the heat. you will need to remove it.

centrifugal inline fans.

systemair make the RVK version.
