i got a meatal hilide w/400 watt bulb. but i wanna use a 400 watt Hps bulb. is it safe? and what will happen?

You must use a conversion bulb , regular HPS bulbs will not work in a MH fixture.

It will work just fine. I switch a 1000 watter bulbs mh and hps in a 1000 watt socket. I thought my mine was swichable. I did it for a few grows. I then bought a different light second hand went to the grow shop and learned that mine was not switchable. I have had no problems. Screw it in and turn it on.

i guess ill try it. hope it dont burn my house down

Its not 100% by the book but it will work or spend more $ on a new light. It will be ok.

i bought this light for 20 bux. and got 4 hps 400wtt bulbs for 15 shipped.

That was good buy.
