i thought the cxb3590 can pull 75w each? i basically want a 1000w hps replacement. what would be a good setup i like the 3x3 or i can do 4x4 but prices go way up as i need 7 additional heatsinks with a 4x4 cob set up. im trying to go price out whats good pricing on making a cob setup spaced evenly.

they can if you run them at 1750ma on hlg240h-c1750 but then you can only run 4 per

As soon as the new HLG-320H-C1750 is released, you'll be able to run 5 cxb3590's at 72-75Watts
i just kinda got it now. i think i can use 9 drivers for 36 cobs if its 4 each driver, the each 9x9 will overlap to the next one to utilize 9 drivers to the max. is that correct to say?

You said that the above set up would be nice for a 4 x 4 room.
If I am correct it would mean that the total Wattage would be (16 x 36 V) x 0.700 A = 403 Watts. (theoreticallly)
If you would use the same amount of CXB3590's (16) but you would use (4) HLG185h-c1400, the total Wattage would be (16 x 36 V) x 1.4 A = 806 Watts.
Hope my assumptions and calculations are correct.
Wouldn't that mean that you would have a better yield?
(I know the bill for electricity would be higher, but that aside. Also I am aware that the COB's would run less efficient)

@Keesje I'm currently running modules comprised of that same driver, running 4 CXB3590 36V chips. Because mine is the B version of that Meanwell unit, it will output 8% more than its rating, meaning the chips actually see 54W apiece for 216W, plus 8W for the driver and I get 225W from the wall.
This combo delivers a very respectable 824PPfD across 6 square feet, so just two of them would provide almost 700PPfD to a 4x4.
Doubling that would almost be too much.

No, the C700B. I'm using the 72V chips.
i thought cxb3590 was 150w cobs that should be ran at 50% = 75watts x 9 = 675? anyway how would running 450 watts in a 4x4 area be? will it equal a 1000 watt in terms of being enough light?

The lower the amperage, the higher the efficiency. I personally run mine at 64watts. Wish I'd built my light when the HLG320's were available though cause I wouldve gone to 75watts on a 2100mA driver.
But my 500 watts in a 4x4 killed it.

They could run up to 150 watts each,but the lower you run them the more efficient.
I run mine at 32 watts each, and run 12 in a 2x4 tent @376 watts at wall, but thats while dimmed and can turn it up to about 470 watts on (2) HLG240's
