Little tent grow

First really warm day here. The tent in the attic got up to 106F today, so the plants spent most of the afternoon in the bathtub. I was able to get the new tent set up in a second floor closet just in time for lights out.

Got the exhaust set up too. Basically just running as a scrubber right now, venting it back into the rather larger walk in closet. If I have to, I can punch a hole in the wall and vent it into the space between the porch ceiling and the roof... but I'd rather not, if I can get away with it.

New tent setup needs a bit of tidying up, not that much bigger, but the extra height really helps:

No hurries buddy, hope they works fine.Surely new tent setup needs a bit of tidying up, probably 2meter height for the tent would work out, usually our tent with 1.8m height, I do think not enough sometimes. :leaf:

Tidied up a bit. The SB is starting to frost up. The lower leaves on the GSC are still acting funky, but the upper leaves and bud sites look good. Rubbing the GSC, it smells amazing, tropical fruit and baked goods... like mango, but with a deeper caramely sweetness, like a mango pie or something.

Also brushed a couple of the lower bud sites on the GSC with pollen from the Texada Skunk male... seems like it should be a good cross. Skunk Warp Cookies or Skunkada Scouts or something like that. We'll see how that goes.

Here are the next ones up. I'll start a new journal for them one of these days. The bigger plants are about 4 weeks, the smaller are 2-3. I had a bit of problem with germ rates with the Holodeck Jesus, so had to start a couple of different batches to get the numbers.

Back left is 00 Seeds Northern Lights Fem, back middle is World of Seeds Afghan Kush, the rest are Cannabeizen's Holodeck Jesus.

I just transplanted them from party cups yesterday (I meant to buy 8 of those square pots). That little one in the corner is actually the same age as the other smaller plants... no sign of any growth or development until the last couple of days. Now it's looking like it's going to be a bit of an oddball, and I kind of like it, totally rooting for it:
5-25HJmut.jpg

I'll probably throw them under 12/12 in another week or so to sex them, depending on how that turns out, I might just run them through SOG style. I went down the rabbit hole of buying seeds recently, and I have some other genetics that I'd like to get going.

5/28:
A little more than a month since the flip, and about 3 1/2 weeks since showing pistils. It's interesting to see the difference between the two plants. Same environment, same feedings... except a bit more attention to try to correct the GSC, but the GSC is looking ragged (though still developing) and the SB is looking healthy. Genetics and variance between strains makes a big difference.

SB, still all white pistils, stacking flowers and frosting, looking like a model... probably about halfway through flower:

GSC looking rough, but still developing, I've given her cal/mag and micros, but still having a hard time. I threw some Texada Skunk pollen at couple of lower bud sites, and now some of the upper pistils are starting to turn, not sure if that's because I was imprecise will my pollen chucking (I was actually pretty careful) or if it's just getting ready to finish up... hopefully I'll be seeing the calyxes begin to swell soon:

These are the bud sites I pollinated, you can see the seeds starting to develop... little baby Timewarp Skouts:

6/2: Another few days on, about 5 1/2 weeks since the flip. The SB is still looking good, a few lower leaves starting to yellow. The GSC looking really rough.

SB frosting and fattening:

I flushed the GSC a couple of days ago, run-off measured about 6.7ph and 670 tds, it was two days after a feeding that I flushed, because it was looking so bad. So the tds number might be a bit on the high side, neither of these numbers seem way out of whack. Then I fed cal/mag again (I'm using Blue Planet). The damage seems mostly on older leaves, and on leaves that are getting lots of light. Shaded leaves and newer growth seems much better. Still smells amazing, and seems to be developing. But i'm concerned that it won't finish, or that it will hermie badly and seed the SB given the stress.

Another few days. Right at about 6 weeks since the flip and around 4 since they showed sex.
Both still progressing. Bud sites are feeling nice and dense, and still pushing out more pistils.

SB still looking good, a few more lower leaves yellowing off, but I'm not too worried about that:

GSC doesn't seem to have gotten any worse. New growth and shaded leaves staying green. Pushing lots of orange pistils and frost. Don't see any nanners:

We're 7 weeks since the flip, and about day 40 since showing fem.

SB coming along, though a few more leaves are starting to fade, and it looks like it might be developing a bit of a cal deficiency too, even though I've been feeding Cal/Mag. But it should be ok. Still pushing out a lot of pistils, and only a few are starting to wither. Bulking up fairly well. A bit of a skunky smell, but not too strong. I'm guessing another 3-4 weeks.

I took some of the dead crispy leaves off of the GSC to try to get more light to leaves that are still green. It still seems to be coming along. Buds are nice and dense, but not very big. Starting to get a few amber trichs on the sugar leaves, and the pistil production has slowed down. Considering how it's been looking, I'll be pretty happy to get anything decent off of it, can't be too much longer on this one.

6-19 update
I chopped the sad looking GSC today. It was mostly cloudy with probably about 10% amber, I didn't want it too narcotic. So that's 8 weeks to the day since the flip, and just short of 7 since showing pistils. GSC is a notoriously low yielder, and with the issues this girl was having, it couldn't have helped. Really barely any stretch after the flip either. Didn't weigh the wet buds, but my guess, just visually, is that once this is dried it's going to come in at about an oz, maybe a bit less, plus a couple of dozen GSC x Texada Skunk seeds.

But the buds are pretty dense, so it might surprise me. I can live with that, could have jammed two more plants of about the same size in the tent, too. I feel like the SB will yield at least double, but we'll see.

(man, that dog hair really shows up on the camera... going to have to look out for that when I light them up)

Some decent looking, fairly frosty buds:

(not the best trim job I've ever seen, but it's just for me, so i don't really care)

6-21 update

SB is starting to fade, gave it what I expect to be the last feeding yesterday, micros and bloom only, along with some cal.mag. Another couple of weeks. Buds continuing to fatten up, and a few pistils withering. The main stem is almost completely purple, but I'm not seeing any purpling on the buds.

7-2 Update
SB is looking completely faded. I may have cut nutes a bit earlier on this than I should have. Right at about 59 days since showing pistils, which is squarely in the 8-9 week window that Peak lists. Mostly cloudy with just a few ambers, I'm going to wait a few more days on it. I'm a bit surprised by how many white pistils there still are.

7-2SBa.jpg

The dried (slightly over dried, really) weight from the GSC was about 24g a bit more than 3/4 of an oz, which is about what I was thinking. Curing now.
I'm thinking I'll get closer to 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 from the SB. Which is alright for the wattage I'm running in a less than perfect grow.

Here are the seeds I got from brushing Texada Skunk pollen on a couple lower branches of the GSC. Some of them look good, some not so much. I might try to pop a couple of them and and run 12/12 from seed just for kicks.

I took a good look today, and I'm still seeing very few amber trichs and a fair number of clear. I was doing some reading and a few people have mentioned that it's close to 10-11 weeks before these really start really pushing ambers. I'm right at 9 weeks since showing sex, I'll let it go another few days anyway.

The GSC is continuing to cure, and it's stinking up the whole upstairs of the house whenever I take the lid off.

7-7 update
Well, despite what I said just yesterday, I ended up chopping today. I went and took a look and noticed that the top buds were turning pretty brown and getting crispy. A smattering of ambers, still a few clear, but since this has such an influence from the sweet skunk that's not terribly surprising.

That's the same box from the pic with the GSC. So I'm still thinking in the 1 1/2 oz range (48g or so), maybe a touch more.
That would put me at a bit over 1/2 a gram per watt on a grow that was far from dialed in, and a tent that was only about half full. I'll update the numbers when it's dry.

SB dried to the point where the small stems snap and the large ones crack.
I jarred up 46g of dried SB to start the cure. Letting the leaves go so brown definitely hurt the "bag appeal," but it's just for me, so whatevs.

Here's a pick of a GSC nug that continues to cure. Preliminary vaping of the GSC is positive (haven't smoked any yet). Pretty mellow and relaxing. Not a ton of sweetness, but really quite tart, like a really tart mango.
7-13GSC.jpg

One of the reasons I started this grow journal was because, starting back up again, I was trying to figure out if it was worth it to run a grow in a small tent with a single QB and I couldn't find any numbers.

My final dry weight is 70g from a single 3000k QB v2 running off of an HLG-120H-54A. I don't have a kill-a-watt, but I'm guessing i was running about 135-140w, I know that driver can do close to 150w, but I had it backed off slightly from max. Plants finished in 2 1/2 gallon pots.

That puts me at just over .5 grams per watt. I could have easily fit 3 similarly sized SBs in the 2'x2' tent that I started in, and I think could have gotten similar yields. I think I could have fit four in the slightly larger 2' 3" x 2' 3" tent, though I think there would be a slight drop-off in yield per plant.

Even in spite of my slightly ham-fisted growing, had the tent been full of SBs, I think I could have gotten over 1 gram per watt pretty easily.
