i believe @Humanrob has worked with those drainage pipes for sips before,, oh i have also seen whole planter beds with that pipe laid down in them for a long ways, like 6 8 10 feet, and making a huge raised garden bed for a sip,, seems like thhe size can be enlarged to massive things to suit the grower and the space
Hey Tim -- I've used them as wicks, but never in the way @GreenSanta is talking about using them. At some point I'd love to try that method for an outdoor raised bed for veggies, sounds like it would be awesome.

There are two kinds of SIPs -- the ones where the roots can reach the water, and the ones where they can't and the res is just a self-watering mechanism. I've only done the former, looks like GreenSanta is going for the latter.
