Lock out issues and correct identification of nutes being locked out

Hi everyone . My first post here after lurking about for a while .

Using hydro dwc in 20 litre pots. 4 plants from bag seed so unknown genetics. I'm experiencing stunted growth , droopy leaves ,some leaves towards the top and middle third of the plant shows orangey veiny burns also some leaves have small peach coloured 2mm blotches on leaves . looks like the onset of a cal mag lock out ( after researching ) but I just want to clarify one or 2 things before I take my next steps.

week 5 of veg and plants are only 1ft tall and quiet straggly .

im on my 3rd flush now because I've not been able to dial in properly to the needs of the plant I've spotted signs the plant is locking out so I flush and re administer the nutes after 4/5 days of flushing each time but come back to this.

ive a 600 watt hps ( don't have mh bulb) and light 14 inches away from plants , not hot under my hand after 1m. Working 18/6

My RH bounces between 40 and 75% . While my temps fluctuate between 8 Celsius when off during the night and 28.c during the day. Light is on

Im im using tap water , Phd to I between 5.5 /6 . Using dutch pro hydro A & B but no other supplements

my my ph goes down to 3.5 after I've put my nutes in and I re ph back up .

I have a truncheon and measure the nutes and start them off lightly at approx 600ppm on .5 conversion scale . I've went no higher than that on all 3 occasions and still experienced these issues.

could I experience these issues becuase I'm not using the other dutch pro supplements with my grow ?

is raising my ph from 3.5 back up to 5.5 ish causing stress / lockout to the nutrient solution?

there always appears to be an oily skin at the top of the water in my bubbler, I've never picked up on this before .

any info would be great folks . I'll supply a pic soon .

Hey bro
Yep it certainly looks like a cal/mag issue. You mention in your post night temps drop to 8c.....did you mean 18c?

also...why ph your water down, then add nutes, then ph back up. If your water measures say 7.3, then after you add nutes it should have you at about 6.5. My water has never dropped to 3.5 after adding nutes.... so could the issue be something to do with that.

Sorry I'm not much help...I'm a soil guy.

Thanks for you reply guitar!!!!!

I Was hoping for clarification from a more experienced grower like yourself
My temps do drop to 8.c at night . It's winter where I live so and the current conditions limit me to an attack space , when the light goes off at midt it drops to that until 6am when the lights come on .

i don't ph the water add nutes then ph , it's just the way I've written it ... Poorly ..: (. Lol

in terms of the ph , out the tap it's 7.2 , after I add nutes it drops to 3.5 . Possibly I have the wrong combination of nutes ( hard water vs soft water . I'll need to check my info before I comment further on this lol ..)

Bro I'm in Ireland and grow in the attic...and at night it also hits about 8c.... That's too low (growth stops at around 12c) could be the cause of your problem.
I combat it by running my lights 8pm - 8am..... so lights are on all night when it's coldest, keeps the room at 24c. When lights go off I have a fan heater with a thermostat, it keeps the grow room at 21c.
I'd certainly address this problem.

Does the A/B contain both macro and micro nutes or just macro?

Paranoia is the main fear for me with the current schedule and yours lol ....My attic and through the wall ( granite ) next door neighbour converted the attic to a bedroom , where my grow room is positioned in the attic is about 75cm away from the wall . I have 4 bubblers served by 2 x2 air flow bubblers which make a hell of a drone sound . I've suspended them from the grow room ceiling with tights to adress the vibration issue but here is still an audible hum . I'm concerned if I move schedule the hum will be audible during the night and I get clocked. .

ive even searched the web to see what decibel level permeates granite so I know but my google skills are lacking and I've not found out .

for or the dutch pro I've tried to search for the npk volume but so far found. Nothing on it ( again could be my google flaw) so I honestly couldn't tell you either macro or micro compounds .

Ha..ha.. i hear ya mate... I had a fan touching off one of the rafters and downstairs it sounded like a bulldozer.... Hanging pumps and fans from tights or rubber bands is defo a win. A bit of paranoia is far better than being careless but once there is nothing vibrating against any of the structural beams or anything they should not be able to hear it..... I mean it could be from a fridge or boiler or something.....their not gonna think of grow op.
But if you reckon they can hear it then stay on your schedule, if even for piece of mind... but do get a small fan heater to bring night temp up, it will dramatically affect your yield if you don't.

I'll look up them nutes for you and get back to ya bro.

Yep the dutch pro A/B has both macro and micro. I'm sure you know this, but...just in case..... Never mix components in pure form with each other, always first component A, water and then component B in equal parts.

Has your PH pen been calibrated? Nutes dropping the water from 7.2 to 3.5 still seems weird to me.

Cheers guitar , I'll get a heater in there . Possibly reposition the tent but if I could get further away I would switch the light pattern times like you suggest .

sometimes feels I've a Yamaha 125 up there idling with those vibrations.

Good man on the nutes . Thanks for going to the effort .

You may find with the addition of the heater things sort themselves out.

Ha..ha.. only us attic growers have to deal with the bad vibrations.......

Best of luck bro.

Another good shout on the ph pen . Probably been a few years since it's been calibrated . I'll get buffer fluid and check .
