When vaccines became available the point became moot, towards the end of them in the west they were only used when the local hospital systems were overwhelmed. Remember the virus evolved and was a different animal than when it first appeared, Darwin selects for contagion, not virulence.

The people in my town get on the local message board to complain about rabbits in your yard and how to kill them. They delight in their methods trying to outdo each other with the most toxic of concoctions. The Democrats of Colorado; they make me sick!

Australia and New Zealand also had success and actually became covid free a couple of times. Unfortunately airline crews kept bringing the virus back in from countries that were not covid free or the virus jumped out of the isolation hotels that were just not up to the task that were set up for Australian citizens returning from Covid infected countries.
My state (Tasmania) had a couple of week lock down very early on and was covid free for the majority of the pandemic as were most Australian states. Tasmania was still Covid free when we actually let the virus in by getting rid of the laws that had worked so well.

If the whole world was on the same page at the start for 3 to 6 months then the virus may of been no more.
America had Trump and he was a covid denier. Was "just" a flu ...what a wanker.

I find it interesting to note the speed of the spread.

Population of Tasmania - about 550,000.

December 14 2021 - 0 Covid cases, borders have been open to WA/SA/NT/QLD and with significant restrictions to VIC/NSW for about a year.

December 15 2021 - Borders opened to all mainland states with some restrictions requiring testing prior to travel i.e. can't travel if positive etc.

January 4 2021 - 2244 active Covid cases.

So in about 3 weeks, we go from 0 in 550,00 to 1 in every 245 people having an active Covid case.

Also significant is the positive rate in the testing. Last 24 hours 702 cases from 2088 tests giving a strike rate of 34% which suggests there is a massive under testing occurring.


Food for thought - when will it reach 1 in 1?

FWIW - 91.9% double vaxxed (aged 12 and over)
