Lockdowns don't work.

I wonder what the demographics are of those numbers in NYC? I bet there is some good data theee to be found regarding transmission an how best to stop it.

This anomaly appears to be caused by a combination of factors including: the number infected, the population density, the public health policies in place and the level of compliance. The policies work if properly implemented and complied with, the higher the infection rate, the stricter the measures have to be, that is what the data shows

New York and other hot spots are getting longer coronavirus peaks than expected, expert says

(CNN)New York and other hot spots are experiencing prolonged peaks of the coronavirus pandemic while southern states may not get hit as hard as earlier projected, experts say.
Researchers from the prominent projection model cited by the White House plan to release new data on the pandemic Friday.

Report: Covid-19 patients recovering quickly after getting experimental drug remdesivir
Report: Covid-19 patients recovering quickly after getting experimental drug remdesivir

Updated projections will show decreasing cases on a national level, but extended peaks in hard-hit areas, said Dr. Christopher Murray, the director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation model.
Americans are social distancing more than expected, even in some states without strong mandates, which factors into the new estimates, Murray told CNN's global town hall on coronavirus Thursday night.

"We made a big push trying to take into account how people move around, like direct measurement through cell phone data," he said. "There's more social distancing across the country than I think we expected. A number of states in the south will have smaller epidemics than expected."
With the growing social distancing, death rates among confirmed cases in some southern states will come down, which will mean lower national numbers overall, he said.
"Counter balance to that is that places like New York seem to be stuck at the peak for longer than we originally expected," he added. "... It's not something that I think anybody expected to see where people would instead of two or three days to peak, they're spending a longer period and then cases will start to come down."

You are a Canadian and your post just isn't factual.
I'm a Canadian patriot and I'm more of an American patriot than you are, you are spreading socially destructive foreign propaganda. I'm a Canadian ally, but you work for Russia and a known traitor who is destroying America. You are an emotionally and socially retarded fool and tool of those who would destroy you, bigotry has poisoned your mind and turned you into a sucker.

Make up you mind and either use this new sock or your regular account, you don't have enough to say to use two or more accounts.

That's a dismissal.

No, they're not. Here's where I think we can agree with or without the lockdowns: "Test and trace" is a better instrument

1) Because of Trump's utter malfeasance, state governors are competing in international markets for PPE (bringing the baseline down)

2) because of Trump's positive efforts to withhold test kits from states, testing is inadequate

3) test and trace is PROVEN to be so effective at exposing infection chains that some countries have relied solely on this and not lockdowns

Here's where we disagree, lockdowns alone do more harm than good.

The lockdowns are working because fauci and birks say they are. Unless you don't trust them. That's why we're doing them. If people arent in contact with each other, there's less chance for transmission to occur. It's basic logic, not sure how you're convinced it doesnt work. Is it the OPTIMAL strategy? Perhaps not.

But without track and trace technology currently available (not to mention any Constitutional or privacy concerns), a worldwide shortage of PPE/ventilators and a lack of testing availability worldwide, lockdowns are useful broadly effective tool to be utilized while other deficiencies are addressed.

While I don't believe China's numbers, their lockdowns played a huge role in their recovery. The lockdowns in USA are a temporary measure to buy us time. It's not a end-all be all solution. In an ideal world, every household would have unlimited supplies and money to last until a vaccine arrives. Obviously that is not feasible so the economy has to come into play as 22million+ unemployed people is not acceptable.

Do any of you trust bill gates? I don't like how this guy, the leader of windows, the worst OS out there affected by the most viruses weve ever seen....is somehow interjected into this whole vaccine/pandemic scene. I don't know what's going on but it seems completely out of his area of expertise and I don't trust his motives.

His charity has been funding pandemic issues for years, just sayin. But yes it could be part of the global elites tearing the economy apart.... I guess?

Bill had an epiphany a few years ago when his mom died, he's giving almost all of his money away and is a bit of an authority on the subject, he's almost got a malaria vaccine developed.

Here is a TED talk from 5 years ago, Bill was ahead of the game. I used to curse Bill and windows so much he should have turned to dust, now I respect him as a good man.

The next outbreak? We’re not ready | Bill Gates

In 2014, the world avoided a horrific global outbreak of Ebola, thanks to thousands of selfless health workers -- plus, frankly, thanks to some very good luck. In hindsight, we know what we should have done better. So, now's the time, Bill Gates suggests, to put all our good ideas into practice, from scenario planning to vaccine research to health worker training. As he says, "There's no need to panic ... but we need to get going."
