I guess you never have visited the US.
Now in the discussion many Afro Americans call themselves Black Americans, because now the color is important.
But if everyday life they call themselves Americans.
And if they have to describe themselves, they use the words Afro Americans.

By the way, where I live in Europe black people call themselves mostly by the country they themselves, their parents or grand-parents came from.
Nothing wrong with that.
In France, Belgium and Germany black people also do that.

Another thing:
Many European sports celebrity's are now calling themselves 'black' when they talk about themselves.
Lewis Hamilton (Formula 1), Virgil van Dijk (soccer) and many more refer to themselves as 'as a black' and then followed by their country.

How hard is it to understand that as a population the black people living here have been forced to live in a very small area once the white people moved out until very recently, not long enough for them to build up wealth and a tax base to give their kids all the technological and environmental benefits that you find in the wealthy suburbs.

Just because all white people don't experience all the success our nation can provide, doesn't mean that when they work their way out of their parents shadows they get sorted out of opportunities available because of the color of their skin. Is this something that you deny is happening?

Again, get your facts straight.
There are many societies where the chance of being stopped by the police when you are of color are many times bigger.
Not only in America, but also in Spain, Israel, Canada, Russia, England, Scotland, Germany, France, China, etc.
This will lead automatically to more charges, because by the law of numbers. (If you would stop white people also more, this would also lead to more convictions amongst white people). Facts. Just a small example why a certain group can have a shittier life compared to other groups in the same society.
Also for example in Western European countries people of some ethnicity or color have a lesser chance to find work while applying for it. Plenty of scientific research on that. So facts, not an opinion. Finding it harder to find a job, can lead to less income.
African-American prisoners who were convicted of murder are about 50 percent more likely to be innocent than other convicted murderers and spend longer in prison before exoneration, in the US. This is from a study of Michigan State.
All examples of why a group can have a shittier life in the same circumstances, only because they are treated different. All facts.

Jews are not a race or a color. Jews are a religion and they come in all shapes and forms.
And they did not do very well for themselves untill after WW2. Jews in Poland, Russia, Hungary were treated as 3rd class citizens and belonged to the poorest class. They were forbidden to do certain jobs and were beaten and even killed. Even in Austria, France and the Netherlands the jews belonged to the poorest people in the big city's. For sure there were the rich doctors and notables. But most of the jews were looked down on and were expelled from many jobs.
It changes a lot after WW2, simply because 6 million of them were gone... and a lot immigrated to Israel, Canada and the US.
But until this day jews in Russia have not an easy life if it comes to getting a job or ending in prison.
'Funny' thing: In Israel the black jews (yes, they do exist. Mainly from Ethiopia) belong to the poorest group. Simply because they are not accepted as full-fledged citizens.
