lol Weird leaves!

So I have two JTR clones that I've been growing out that I've been trying to decide between (figured I'd keep two Pheno's around till I know for sure what I want) and one of them starting growing leaves that only had 3 tips...

I figured it'd be fine but then a couple sets after the 3 tip leaves they started growing out as one big single leaf! The clone came from a plant that did not exhibit these traits and the clone even grew out a full set of regular leaves before it started putting out these crazies.

I have nothing to worry about right? Is it going to be okay to continue cloning off of this plant? First pic is the crazy, second is the 'normal' one.

it's like marijuana...
but with down-syndrome! yay!
hahah just kidding, but that's really interesting since clones are said to have the exact same genetics as the plants they are cut from, and your mother plant did not have these traits. hmmm.

lower fingered leaves are said to be caused from stress (liek its going nine , nine, nine then suddenly bumps into the ones threes and fives)
with your LST perhaps you made a bit of a HST?

When my plants don't get enough light, this is EXACTLY what happens to them. Maybe conepuller2299 seems to be right about the stress level causing this... and maybe its particularly light...?

How's your lighting?

None of these replies here are correct. Often times a clone will produce a 3-leafed plant until it's fully established. I've even had 1-leafed plants until the clone developed a robust root structure to support a plant with more leaves. I promise that by the time the plant is mature and flowering, you'll be back up to 5 and 7 fingered leaves.

i have a blue widow clone doing the one finger leaves all over. its getting big too and still putting out single fingered leaves. the other bw clones arent doing it tho.... they all look healthy, im not concerned about it.

Thanks for the replies guys. my lighting in that room is a 400w MH btw.

The plant does look healthy other than the adnormality so like rzza, I guess I can probably just treat it as I normally would and if it doesn't turn out well I just wont bother to mess with clones off of it.

:peace:

JTR seems to have some interesting mutants. I had two come up with twin sprouts. One of those the runt died and the main trunk kept growing like normal.

The other come out. Started normal, but when the big one hit it what would have been it's 3 pointed set, it threw out too big "balloon" leaves, the growing tip literally dissappared. It's not broke off, burnt, or anything like that it just seems to have mutated and stopped growing. It's now throwing branches, and the runts alive.

Another plant started what appeared to be 11 point leaves, but instead grew a 10 pointer. It's normal 9pt set but the last blade is growing straight up out of the heel, not in the normal radiant pattern.

I was referring to the mother plant actually. She had 9 leaves for a full year before I put her under very poor lighting... That's when the leaves started doing this.

"None of these replies here are correct." I guess that includes yours too....

If you meant that this is normal for clones, then you are correct.

Interesting plant whiteflour, I did notice the same thing with my JTR seeds as you did yours; I had three instances of twin sprouts out of 10 seeds for a total of 13 sprouts :)

cephalopod, mine wasn't re-veged.

I wasn't able to find anything online about this, but I believe it had to do with some kind of stress... I was thinking fairly hard about it and I'm sure that between spidey mites on it when it was rooting :finger: and moving across town or whatever happened, that it had to of been stress.

In fact, the newest sets of leaves are showing 3 leaf sets and even a 5 point set. :leaf:

Dude, did you miss my post? I have 12 plants with 3-leaf points like that right now. It's not stress-related, it's not rare, nor is it abnormal.

i can't tell you why, but i have had clones do this several times. none of the mothers ever displayed these leaves but from time to time i'll have a clone that will.

definitely nothing to worry about. one of my AK48 clones is doing it right now....
