Lollipop White Widow/Blueberry/Sadhu

UPDATE: So a week ago I started a crap load of sadhu seeds thinking to put them outside. However, I ended up deciding to clone the cuttings from when I lollipop all my WW and BB and put those clones outside. I have decided to keep the 45 extra sadhu seedlings that germinated inside in 1 gallon spinout treated pots. I will have plenty of room once my extra T5s arrive in a couple of weeks. I am going to keep the 13 sadhu I have going already in untreated pots so I will end up with 6 or so in untreated pots and 22 or so in treated pots for a nice side by side comparison. I have grown 3ft tall plants in untreated 1 gallon pots before but I cant remember what their yields were. My lowest yielder from my last grow was a sadhu with only 4 branches that ended up yielding about 25 grams dry. I know I could have grown a plant of the same size in a 1 gallon pot even if it wasnt treated. I will be happy if I can just end up with 16g per plant off the sadhu. I will be trimming them back to just 4 colas at the start of flowering.

Transplanted into larger pots 2 days ago. Treated all plants with a 30% dose of FoxFarm organic Big Bloom. The WW and BB are in the 4.25 gallon pots and the sadhu are in the 1 gallon pots to the left. There are also 2 hostas, 2 clematis, 3 zestful bleeding hearts, 3 rhododendrons, and a couple pineapples in the foreground (god i love spring!).
are those pineapples?

Good News! My T5s are going to be in this week and are going to be 20 bucks cheaper than I had planned! Also, after measuring I found out that I have enough room to use 2 gallon pots instead of 1 gallon pots for the sadhu. With the spinout treatment I should be able to grow nearly full size plants in the 2 gallon containers. After the sadhu are sexed I will have plenty of space to spread them out and expose all the branches to the light.

Ok two questions for ya man. First what is spinout treated contianers, and second what kind of pineapple is that man? I love growing anything and everything and that looks like it would be a great experience.

Griffin's spinout is a product that you spray on the inside of your containers. I think it contains copper hydroxide suspended in solution. Anyways, roots won't grow in the presence of copper hydroxide. Instead of the roots just growing to the container then around and around the outside until they get rootbound, the roots will simply grow to within a fraction of an inch of the pot wall then stop. If you've ever busted apart a 5 gallon pot from a harvested plant you will find the roots concentrated along the inner wall of the pot growing in circles. These spinning exterior roots are really pretty useless to the plant because only 1/2 of the root, at best, is even exposed to the soil. With a treated pot you get a much denser healthier root system and can go much longer without upcanning and grow much bigger plants in smaller containers. The pineapple is the edible kind. I got it as a gift but they sell them at Walmart.

Wow that is some pretty interesting stuff right there man. I am going to have to check into that. I am doing stealth grows for the time being and my potters have to be small. Where would you find this stuff at?

I want to check out those pineapples man I live in FL and the temp is just right for those things right now. Thanks bro.

You won't find spinout in any store. This is the only place I have found to get coated pots : http://www.kecoat.com/spinout.htm . They normally deal in orders by the thousand so I always feel like a douche when I have to call and order a few dozen pots. There isnt a way to order online that I have found you just have to call the office and ask about pricing for whatever size you want, unless you want 2500 in which case prices are on their site. When I first called I asked about just buying the spinout and treating my own pots. They could sell me the stuff for 60 bucks, which in retrospect could have saved me a bunch of money, but the guy said that 60 bucks worth was enough to treat 5000 pots and I didnt know the shelf life. This is my first time using spinout treated pots personally but I have seen some side by side pics that showed an amazing difference between plants of the same strain grown in treated verses untreated pots. Depending on how my sadhu fair in the 2 gallon pots I may consider downsizing on my next grow from 4.25g pots to 3g pots in order to fit in more plants.

The new seedlings were started a week to 10 days ago and the older ones are now 24 days from planting (13-20 days from germination). One BB is still showing some spotting from the nute burn. Just goes to show you it is possible to burn plants with organics even at a 30% dose. After talking to some other growers that have had the same problem with foxfarm i have decided to switch to botanicare organics on my next grow. Several of the BB and WW show slight signs of nitrogen overdose, curved down leaves, rolled margins, dark green coloring, and contorted growth on one BB. All the symptoms are very minor and not a cause for any real concern. Just in case, I may have to give em a little flush. Luckily for me I have a very friendly local hydro shop that can let me know if a flush is gonna be necessary. I doubt it will.

Seeds for my next grow cycle just arrived! 20 Dame Blanche, 10 Dutch Delight, and 10 Edelweiss all feminized and all from Flying Dutchman. The grow after next will have the same line up except I will be swapping the Edelweiss for White Diesel from White Label seeds.

One of my T5s also arrived today. Also discovered another skunk x haze had germinated when I was cleaning up bringing the total to 16. I also found out that the pests I had weren't spider mites or thrips but were actually leaf miners. I had gotten the pictures confused. I haven't noticed any advances in the pest damage over the past few days so they were probably all taken care of with the first treatment. Just to be on the safe side I went ahead and cut off affected leaves.

So i checked the ph of the BB that has a few little spots on it and it was 5.2! I flushed it with a little over three gallons and got it up to 5.7. Looks like i'm in for a week of flushing plants. Luckily I caught it early and only the one BB has a few little spots on it. I've seen just how bad ph problems can get if left unchecked. All the water the plants have been getting has been from 6.5 to 7 so it must be all the peat moss in my grow mix that is bringing the ph down so low. I will have to consider soil additives from now on to counteract the peat but for now all i can do is flush them back up to 6.8. I will post more pics this weekend after I've had a chance to flush all the plants. Flushing is murder on the back :( !

I found the source of my ph problems. Turns out the pro-mix i use has a starting ph of around 5.5. This was probably also the culprit behind the ph disaster on my last cycle. If anyone knows a way to raise soil ph that doesnt involve me lugging 100 gallons of water downstairs for flushing please let me know. Also, has anyone else ever encountered promix with such an acidic starting ph? If I keep using this mix, what type of additive would I need to mix in at the beginning to raise the ph?

On a break from flushing now. So far all the pre-flush ph numbers are between 5.2 and 5.7. Post-flush ph is running between 5.8 and 6.2 with most being 6.0. Only used 4 gallons of water per plant so as not to raise the ph too quickly and shock the plants. I will have to flush again in 5-7 days bringing the total amount of water to 200 gallons and hopefully getting the ph up to 6.5+/-.2 .

Get some lawn and garden lime. It is for stablelizing ph. I had horrible ph problems 2 grows ago and then last grow used same soil with lime and had no problems. Flushing takes WAY to long if you ask me and it makes me think I'm overwatering my babies. Hope you get this problem fixed. They carry the lawn and garden lime at pretty much any home depot or lowes. I think I have even seen it at walmart once before.

Thanks for the advise. I think I will just switch back to my old soil which I never had ph problems with. I had a bag out back and tested its ph at 6.5. I finished flushing all the WW and 2 of the BB. I will finish off the BB tomorrow afternoon or once my RO machine can catch up.

Finished flushing the BB earlier today. I will give the sadhu a flush tomorrow. Will be transplanting skunk/haze into 1 gallon pots for sexing on monday. If my other pots arrive I will also be moving another 41 sadhu seedlings into 2 gallon pots.
