Long time User, First time grower

As in some of my other posts, i decided to "try" and do a "CHEAP" grow, Bagseeds, CFL's. ect..

So going on with the next question,

1. Would it be cheaper/ better to do my first grow out of Soil or Bubbleponics?

2. What type / kind of Nutes should i use if i go, Soil / Bubbleponics?

3. Whats the "average" grow time (from sprout lings to harvest).

1) definitely cheaper AND easier AND better taste from growing with soil. ne soil will do. i recommend bagged potting soil such as scotts or miracle gro

2) any type of nutes will work just depends on stages, flowering or veg. i have 12 plants indoors right now and i use miracle gro 'plant fertilizer' for veg and miracle grow 'bloom booster' for flowering. for low budget/for fun grows, this is the way to go. really ne common hardware store ferts will do the job.

3) depending on teh type of strain could be a few months to half a year. if you grow with a 12/12 light cycle from start to finish and have indica strains it will be a matter of months. but sativas on the other hand have a painfuly long flowering time. i have a flowering sativa now under cfls. around 15 inches and its been the same for the past month. prob looking at another month or two of flowering.

as for soil you asked about at the end of your post, to be quite honest, dirt is dirt. some are more expensive cause they have addatives to feed teh plant and other ingrediants to keep it moist longer...but the best thing you could do for a low budget grow is get average potting soil from home depot like miracle grow soil. the soil could be regular black dirt, what makes the grow is the nutriants and fertilizers added to the soil. dirt is onlty he medium used for root and stem growth. hope ive helped. good luck to you. check out my grow journal below, may help you get ideas and get started. feel free to rip off any ideas ive shown or said.

Yeah, miracle gro is the way to go with bagseed....but don't nute until your seedlings are about 3-4 weeks old....mg has nutes built in......then if you still want to nute, start with quarter strength, and increase if tolerated well. I have 4 bagseed that are 3 months old right now, only used miracle gro......no nutes...a little molasses recently.....making some nice buds ....... hoping they mature to harvest by new years....
Have fun....and certainly have patience.....get a cheap walmart moisture meter and USE it......
I grew my bagseed along with various others....autos etc....and my bagseed survived through everything......appears I will be rewarded with some nice bud.....

I agree, soil would be cheaper/easier for your first grow. I don't know if I would go with MG soil though - it's harder for new growers to work with, much easier to nute burn your plants. If you do buy MG, use very, very low doses of nutes when you begin, until you know what works. Regardless, whichever soil you choose, do not get one that is very woody (like African Violet Mix) - it is too acidic for mj in the long run. I also add extra perlite to my soil, for better drainage, and more oxygen for the roots.

I personally like the Jack's Classic nutes - good product for a fraction of the cost of many of the more popular brands.

How long it takes depends on how long you veg for, that part is up to you. If you have an Indica dominant strain, it takes aprox. eight weeks to flower, so add your prospective veg time to that.

Just wanted to say, good luck. I had my first successful grow last summer. It was outdoors and i learned so much. I did a ton of reading the whole time. This forum has tons and tons of kick ass information and even more kick ass people who go out of their way to help out. Your biggest problem will be knowing what stage you are in and how long its going to take. Towards the end of my grow, i was going out of my head wondering when the buds would finally swell up and be ready. Also make sure you have enough room to grow. One good grown plant can be 3 feet tall and more than a foot wide, plus the planter it lives in. They start out small and cute, but they can get big, which is what you want.
Again, there is enough information packed into this forum to write THE book on how to grow MJ 1001 ways.

If you are new to growing then i would stick to growing in soil this will give you a buffer till you get your head around all the little tricks of the trade.Growing has alot more to it then just germanate a few seeds and reep the rewards.The rewards are there if you grow right and nothing is more rewading than smokeing your own grown weed.NO1 rule don't tell a soul because some one will shop you so keep it to your self.Keep your lights nice and close to the tops of the plants this will give you far closer internodes whitch inturn will give you a far bigger yeild.Try and stick to one strain at a time this will mean that your plants don't always grow at differant heights.Find a good nutrient and stick to it one like vitalink,sensi pro ,advanced.Use a liquid feed far easyer to use than solid ones.Make sure that you keep chechk on the ph of the nutreints.Don't get lazy make a fresh batch of nutrients up every time you need some or you will find that you will have far more problems.Do has much research has possible before starting watch i grow cronic and see more buds both are great for all kinds of differant grows.And good luck keep green......................................tyke...........................................
