Looking for Advice and suggestions before I start!

Hey all! Rough here, I was just looking for a little bit of advice on my room! I have lurked around the forums for a while now, took some ideas from places, and designed a custom system(Due to the space that I had) What do you think of it? Clones are currently developing a root mass before transplant to the system.

Sorry about the relink, please post suggestions here, as it will be easier then trying to follow multiple posts!

Wow man holy shit, i think i just caught a glimpse of a giant aluminum octopus monster in your grow room!!!!! I'm not trying to be a dick but man like 90% of that ducting is unnecessary I've watched that video like 5 times and your ventilation system still baffles me, also you need to cover up that reservoir or your going to get algae growth in there.

Hahaha, Aluminum octopus monster for sure. The ducting system is a little crazy looking, but I assure you, its all nessicary to keep that room below 90ºF when its 90º outside in the summer. During the winter, its not needed, and I probably won't run all the fans all the time. Also, I know the reservoir needs to be blacked out, thats currently tap water with no nutes in the system because I am just now building it. My clones are happily in their clone box growing some fat room systems.

you will be a lot more efficent if you shorten and straighten that exhuast ducting for sure every bend twist and turn you have is reduceing air flow.

There are some twists and turns in the ducting, but the tent that I got had some precut holes in it, and I could only set the tent in 1 position. Also, my light is able to go up and down about 2 feet, so, I had to have enough ventilation ducting to accommodate that!

I am just curious man how many of what type of fans do you have in there, i thought i counted 3 bathroom fans and 1 booster fan? I am assuming the reason that its all crazy like that is because you don't have a centrifugal fan in there? Let me assure you that with 1 centrifugal fan and a few feet of ducting you could properly ventilate that room, and it would probably be a lot quieter.

[edit] oops i didn't see that last post before i posted.

@37 seconds into the youtube video, I think that is a centrifugal fan there, yeah? I also have 2 bathroom fans and a 6 inch "chimney fan". All in all, this is really what I have for materials. I don't have a lot of funds to go out and get another fan currently. The first brown fan is there to pick up ambient heat from the tent(which insulates like a mofo) and get it out of the room. The reason I have so many damn fans is because when its 90º here it becomes nearly impossible to keep the room below 85. So, I feel as if I need to have a lot of air moving away the heat generated by the bulb, asap. Hence the ducting that hangs just barely above the light, the ducting running across the light, the accelerator, the bathroom fan connected to the accelerator, and then a huge chimney fan. I would love to redesign it, but I really don't know how I would set it up so that it can deal with 90º intake from outside.

I understand that you probably don't have a whole lot of money for equipment right now and i figured that's why you had all of those extra fans in there to keep things moving along, I'm just a big fan of the KISS acronym i like things to be nice and clean and efficient, As far as that fan at 37 seconds goes it looks like it might be a centrifugal fan but it doesn't sound like its powerful enough to be a 6" centrifugal fan could pull about 450 cfm max, also with a good centrifugal fan that diagram i made for you would be just fine for dealing with temperatures like that as long as you have climate control in your house.

I pull air in from the outside, so, I can't control the temperature of the air coming through the gigantic chimney fan. All those fans were purchased from 2nd hand stores, hand cleaned and checked, put back together, and cost 5$ each. The chimney one was 15. I have seen the centrifugal fans you are talking about at the hydro shop in town, and I will probably invest in one shortly after my first harvest! Thank you so much for all the advice; that is the way to go, hands down.

I'm just curious as to why you are bringing in air from the outside, in my opinion one of the best things about growing weed in doors is climate control, as long as you have air conditioning and a furnace in your house it shouldn't really be possible for it to get to hot or to cold, also bringing in air from the out side leaves your plants vulnerable to rogue pollen and pest from the outdoors.

It'd make more sense if you knew where I lived, etc. The room that tent is in is a storage closet for the furnace and hot water heater. They are literally touching the tent. There is a duct to the outside in that room that is to relieve heat generated. A door closes that room all up. There is no AC here. I rent a duplex.

Oh i see well yeah you are right that does make more sense to me now, sorry man I'm not trying to badger you i just wasn't sure of your experience level and it seemed to me that the way you were doing things was just a bit off beat, so i wasn't sure if there was a reason for it or if you were just not very experienced.

I'm fairly inexperienced but I do have a good bit of brain in me ole head that I try to apply to problems. This is my second attempt at using the space, as last time; during the summer I was unable to manage the room due to using too small of a reservoir and my nutes over concentrating and getting heat burn and nute burn, at the same time. I think during the winter, and with the dimmable ballast, Ill be in better shape.

And I appreciate the fact that you were willing to educate me and work with me. Thanks a bunch. I just got my clones here today. I have a little baby box that I am putting them into while they develop some root mass before transplant under the 600 MH. The box they are in is about 15''x15''x15''. I have a 12"x12"x12" tub in there with ice cube trays with the bottems for the cubes cut out and little starter rockwool cubes sitting inside the cube holders. I think its gonna be pretty sweet. Uploading pics tomorrow.

This is what I got my babies in devoloping some root mass. I have my two air pumps below the icecube trays bubbling up air bubbles that are almost popping on the roots, its kinda sexy. I was using a little bit of feed, but saw some signs of burn so I backed it off and am flushing with fresh filtered 6.5 ph water.
