I read your post, sounds like you are selective on this inquiry but I will add something useful as it sounds like this is your first “dope” setup lol.
Tents often come tight on its frame, causing holes in the seams and will get a little bigger but thats it. It will not cause light leaks INSIDE. I stood inside, no leaks at all. Do not over think light proofing your intake. As stated, I stood inside while TV and lights were on in the room, pure dark. Grow lab, flowering room so it MUST be dark. This was all I did to light proof the intake, that faces the darkest side of the room in a corner:
Mylar taped over it. S’it!
Now I do have expirience shopping and selling and handling things in this day in age, reviews CANNOT determine your choices, defects will happen with any any any mfg. It is about how they make up for it, and how long they offer that for. Reviews look good? If it werw heavily reviewed, you WILL read discouriging reviews even with UL products. Will be people who are misusing it too or doing something wrong or do not have 2 cents to offer on this anyway and only dicouraged you.
Some times you are so limited, you just HAVE to say screw it and take a chance. I did that twice, happy. Pole caved in, they are sending new ones.
Fans? You will need static pressure to pull air at all and to give slack for when your filter clogs a little, or entirely if the filter is just a bad design or seems to only do it to you or you have a dusty room. I chose to rely on a suggestion on here that was from someone who made many flower runs with it and did not smell anything until they opened the tent. Vivosun 6” filter, has not disapointed yet and no signs of it doing so soon.
My folks/roomates, what ever your conerned for, mine are 100% ok with this because they do not smell a thing and it is LED, runs very cool to the touch.
Fan can be 200cfm but 20 cfm under 1” h2o. That terminoligy will take a second to figure out if you do not know it already lol. Just know cfm and what it isnunder 1”h2o, most will mot even publish that.. (hmmm…. lol) So how long will they stand behind their product, costing you a new one after that time exceeds? One year? 5?
I recommend and own a Vortex, canadians are leading the industry with their duct blowers. 2 reasons… high cfm with and without 1” h2o applied. Now I only just learned their S lines are fairly weak. I have one. But just bought the VTX400 4” because carbon filters are to be replaced every 4-6 months. 4” filter: 36$. 6” filter: 60$. The cfm is 220 and under 1”h2o, it is 119. STRONG fan. Check! 97$ on amazon! Usually 120$ or 200$ with shipping.
Stand behind their product? Only for 10 freakin years. So good I sound like a salesman just telling you about it, but promise I am not, just enjoy seeing concerns I once had and enjoy sharing.
I have both clip in poles/metal corners and plastic push in poles/corner pieces. The clip in was lovely and known to be stronger. Plastic, had the f#cker collapse on me five times lol. The tent is part of its structure. These are Grow Lab and Hydropolis tents, Hydropolis is the metal corner ones, lacks good zipper closed position light proofing flaps and the Grow lab has better design. Zippers are just fine on both. GroLab had thinner fabric but was slightly smaller tent.
These tents are fairly cheap and questionable on sellers site or amazon. You would not of even considered them. They turned out great and got good service on one already. Strict spacing or else I would of bought AC or Mars etc. I do not think the cheaper deseigns lack what you need.
Secret jardin 2x2 was great, too short though to my liking. Tent fabric fits snug, but again, plastic corners. Every thing will lack something but this is probably the greatest advice I shared yet for new growers probably because it is not related to growing plants themselves lol I will get there, already trying lol I have a good two cents for starting up a grow op and the veg part of growing, when I see it asked I offer it.
Remember theres a difference to exaust and airflow, most have both, some use exaust to do it all but with bigger spaces you need mini fans or tower fan in the corner as one suggested to me. So the mylar over the intake is not an issue.
Zippers have slight light leaks going out but as stated, doesn’t always mean it peaks inside and people covered it on threads here that if it did a little that it is more a myth/debate that plenty of pros agree its not causing issues. I don’t even have that!
Good luck! Most exciting thing I have done in my life!
