Looking for help with diy light

I was going to get the xgs-190 but then started looking into building my own using 60w cobs.

The light would be going into a 2x3 or a 2x2 (probably building 2 lights) the construction side soldering and all that is not a problem I just don't physically have the time to research what and where to buy.

it would be on a 18"x18" plastic board with what I'm thinking is one cob at each corner and one in the middle, maybe the four corners a 3000k ish cob and the middle a 5000k ish cob for veg and flower. The 2x3 room would have a 18"x24" board for better light spread.

my budget is as long as everything comes in at under 450 i will be happy.

If you guys could please list the best cobs I'm thinking cree and the best drivers etc etc i would be so grateful. If someone would want some free seeds for helping me out with that i have no problem with that.

THANKS,

I did some more searching and found this
https://www.rollitup.org/t/diy-led-grow-lights-with-cree-cxa3070-cobs-and-cpu-coolers.805681/

that is what I will be building except 5 leds.

I'm unsure if I should add any UV or IR leds to it?

Also for anyone interested I will be doing a grow log to show the results then building and selling them. Custom sizes number of cobs and different colors will be available. Pretty much a very high end custom light for less money than a xgs-190. Double the wattage for the same price.

let me guess this right..

you have no time to research the LEDS you need and the components to buy... unsure of adding IR/UV.... want other people to to the ground work for you and then after your grow log you are going to sell them...???

Was that hard to understand because you wrote it exactly as idid.

I didn't anyone to research anything just if someone like the link i posted built one to list what was bought.

i own my own business and have to be on the shop floor 95% of the time where it is a no computer or cell phone zone which i also follow to encourage my employee's to do the same. Therefore i can't be on a comp. But like i said i can build it with no problem.

If you want me to type it again just let me know if you don't understand that post.

I have been trying to dive in to a another DIY grow. I have been using a various assortment of Cree bulbs for about 12 months so far.....but I am trying to dive into a Cree 3070 diy build.......

1 Cree Cxa 3070 module @1.4amps x 37v = 52w apiece. $38 for the Cob, $10 for the Arctic 10-11+ Cpu Cooler and $19 for a Meanwell LPC-42-1400. Abut $70 for each COB setup. So about $350 in supplies, plus whatever else for thermal grease, kapton tape, solder, soldiering iron etc... Or 5.88" heatsinks from Heatsink USA @ $1.47 per inch. Supra recommend 2 3070's for every 12" of heatsink. Add a single 120mm fan for cooling.

Pretty damn good. You could also scope out Vero COB's. They run a tad lower voltage.

Meanwell link: http://www.trcelectronics.com/View/Mean-Well/LPC-60-1400.shtml
Cree link: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Cree-Inc/CXA3070-0000-000N00Z450F/?qs=/ha2pyFaduhdncFzJNtkj4KItjcCuEPVCzj9OuCgxiIkqNrwulKKoqjxdOLMovRj
Alpine link: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=arctic alpine 11 plus

You could run them softer, say 700mA and get more efficiency and possibly a better spread, but less penetration. That would save a bit of cash on drivers. You can also find bulk lots of CPU coolers for multiple cobs to save more as well.

:peace:

My setup is coming along nice.
3070s for the 3000k & 5000k
Testing two different cree 2700k and trying to get 3070 2700k all in top BIN.
also using luxeon for royal blue, red, deep red, and white. In total roughly 300 actual led watts. Thinking about building and selling these for about $475 on ebay and they perform a hell of a lot better than a xgs 190
