Looking for input, feminized seed growing seeds but can't find any nanners

Hey all, my Granny Candy from humboldt seed is growing seeds in addition to buds. Really at a loss for the root cause since I cant find any nanners on her. Shes growing in a 2x4 acinfinity tent, light is a Kind LED X420. Soil is hp promix with EWC. Nutes are KIS organics 2-8-4 bloom and beneficial bacteria in a 3 pot autopot xl system. The other 2 strains in the tent(Mixed Nutz from HSC and White Rhino from Greenhouse) seem to be ok with no seeds or other signs of stress. No light leaks in the tent, and ph has been between 5.5-6.2 in the resevoir. Any ideas where I couldve went wrong? I document my grows pretty well so should be able to answer more particulars if asked. Any help is appreciated growmies.

Edit: forgot to mention ive been battling gnats for the entirety of flower but have been able to keep them mostly at bay using a combo off neem, Microbe Lift BMC, diatomaceous earth, and an insecticide on a rotating schedule.

Thats a bummer. Your going to find seeds in your whole crop. Lucky for you, they will all be feminized seeds.

Just be more attentive in the future. Check your plants thoroughly, especially if you decide to grow and test some of the seeds from this crop.

You should still end up with some decent bud to smoke. Cheers.

i was a bit bummed until you said theyd all be feminized tbh lol being a seed hoarder im always happy to add to the collection. thank you for the tips, I will def be more attentive in the future.

They're more like bollox than nanners, I can't see the clearly but nanners appear in buds ime and bollox on the stems.

Afaik seeds from bollox will be more prone to hermaphrodite?

Never heard of bollox before but sounds like i have bad luck with the genetic lottery haha

Yeah that looks like a true hermaphrodite and not 'nanners. Might as well ride it out at this point. Seeded weed can be VERY good. It sure used to be!
I guess thats why it was a freebie and not an official line of gear from HSC yet. Tbf the buds on all still look like it will be soem fire once finished in the next 2-3 weeks. Only question is will the seeds be ready when the trichomes are cloudy or will I have to wait for more amber?

Basically full blown hermaphrodites are well worth avoiding the seeds from them, they're likely to grow more hermaphrodites basically bad news to have around.

Seeded bud isn't terrible to smoke ime its not bad but it wouldn't be my 1st choice.

Yes, I agree. They are probably the least desirable seeds of them all! However, I once had a hermaphrodite turn up and I would have thrown it out right away, but it smelled stronger than the other phenotypes, so I kept it and fresh froze it and then made some bubble hash from it. Honestly, it was delicious!

I've grown the mixed nuts 3 times. I got 3 or 4 seeds each time. I think it must be part of its genetics. I had 2 different pheno types. 2 of the seeds made this tall lanky plant with small buds. One made this bushy indica that was a decent producer. The tall lanky ones were a waste of grow space.

All comes down to preference. I personally won't use any seed that's come from a unintended pollination. Doesn't matter if it the environment was dialed in and she still threw some naners. To me that only equates to higher sensitivities to stress in the resulting offspring. Yes, it's a natural phenomenon even performed in nature, but it's not a trait I'm looking to introduce into my personal bank. I run multi strain grows, and I breed for key traits.

Accidental cross pollination?..... that's OK, only if I have my desired traits to work from, I can deal with that. Not ideal, but tolerable.

my pheno is tall and lanky as well, guess it really is the genetics since my space is dialed in for the msot part. It is my first "soil" grow after yrs of DWC so thought I fucked up something at somepoint lol

fair point with sound logic i havent considered. Looks Like i'll just trash the seeds. I also do multistrain grows so it's either trash them or run all of them in the same grow to not risk cross pollinating more stable genetics.

I agree, but, at the same time, I have gotten seed from commercial buds and grown them out and the progeny never threw a single 'nanner.

My understanding is that landrace marijuana naturally maintains a "fail-safe" device within it's genes, that becomes an advantage to the plant for making seeds -which is the "goal" (for lack of a better term) of the female plant. Over the years, breeders have selected female plants that didn't express the "fail-safe" trait as much. There are probably some strains that are "pure"...but I think that latent gene will never completely go away. Plus, we are in the age of incredibly-complex hybrid plants that carry all kinds of latent genes. All that considered, we're probably going to be seeing all kinds of weird morphologies popping up out of that soup.

On retrospect both times I had tall lanky plants all the plants in that tent had 3 or 4 seeds, little rascal pollinated everyone.
The one that was more indica did not bear seeds nor did any of the other plants in that grow.
It would appear the tall skinny prototypes are also hermaphrodites. I never noticed any nanners but here we are.

Dang, I thought those were less common with HSC I was going to get some seeds soon. Not that I care, Im extracts only but for what its worth, I got nothing but hermies running right now because of that. Also that they can out grow it so I dont toss herms.

If you clone and clone it can be seedless by 2nd run IME and continue. I dont get seeds but sterile nanners and sacs. Originally a heavily seeded crop. In case you have attachment to the strain. Polyploid will soon be a pretty good game changer if I were a flower smoker, screw this hassle lol. Or just get hands on that racehorse photoperiod.

Edit I mean triploid see I really dont care for flower anymore lol.

Very well said and I honestly think we'll see more and more breeders bring back a focus on the landrace all us old timers grew up with. The unique terpene profiles of landrace plants have been diluted down and nowadays, everything is basically myercine dominant with little to no significant variation. Hybrid cannabis most certainly has a well deserved permanent place but there's certainly room for improvement with the stated effects these breeders claim.

Mother nature always finds a way. I bet the nanner popped up in the first growth spurt of flower and then the second or third spurt engulfed it, hidden within. A random nanner isn't worth losing sleep over, it's the balls that are concerning. Now that you mention the tall and lanky types, that rings close to home for me as well, my short and squat indicas have always been very consistent for me.

fwiw the Mixed Nutz that hermed was a freebie and not released officially by HSC. Granny candy is as advertised with strawberry/pineapple/gas terps. She is definitely the loudest in the tent. Grew their Blueberry Pancakes and that was some dank as well. Only issues ive read about with HSC is their triploid strains earlier this year.
