Looking for opinion

Well, I can see I will be posting on here quite a bit. Maybe I will start a journal. I have a few more questions while they are on my mind.

I am using the general hydro 3 bottle nutes that come with the water farm, should I use exactly as directed or have any of you experimented with better results? If so I am getting ready to fill the system for the first time, what would you reccomend?

Should I cover the top of my rockwool to help protect from algae using mylar or tin foil?

At what distance from my 250W HPS should I start them off at while they are young?

And last but not least, what kind of watering cycle should I use? I know someone that leaves their waterfarm running constantly but theirs are not rooted in rockwool, therefore does not hold the moisture as much. If I keep it on constant flow im guessing the rockwool will oversaturate.

Thanks! You all are helping tremendously.

Go to the GH website and look for feeding schedules. Don't use nutes at all till you have a set of real leaves. Cover netpots with something like cardboard, not foil. No light till you see green, then keep hps well back, like 12 inches or more. In fact, I would just get cfls for early veg. I don't know about waterfarms, but whatever you do you want the top of the rockwool to be moist but not soppy wet.

I disagree with giving them no nutes at all. For example, when you use rockwool and put the cubes under a humidity dome, the leaves get real yellow and crispy due to the plant using up all the nutrients it has to keep it alive, and grow roots. If you give them a very small portion of food from the beginning, the leaves always stay green and healthy, which in turn gets them growing without the unneeded stress. Its like letting your child go hungry. And yes, ALWAYS use the feeding charts. Most of the manufacturers know that cannabis is being grown with their products, so they simplify it for you.

Ok so cardboard is reccomended to place over he rockwool cube to prevent algae from the light? Does any have any experience using water farms and rockwool? I just want to give these babies the best shot I can. I'm just not sure if letting the pump continuospy run will over soak the rockool. And I will definately keep to the nute schedule.
