looking for some opinions

i've got a cfl set up right now, running 125 actual watts, 490 equivalent (how legit is that?). just trying to get a few for myself, no huge operation. I'm wondering if it wouldn't both yield me more and be more energy efficient to run this light: Lithonia Lighting Bronze High Pressure Sodium Flood - OFL 70S 120 LP BZ M4 at The Home Depot

or something similar, a lower wattage hps, its both less watts and stronger light i think. I guess the one draw back would be less coverage lower on the plant, though i could add some small cfls down there.

what do the experts think?

also, is this going to get a lot hotter than a bunch of cfls in a closet?

i would just stick with the cfls. I don't know about using that. I bet it gets hot as a motherfucker.

agreed. If you're gonna get a HID light, get a proper grow setup. 250W won't consume that much more energy, and if you get a proper enclosure with ventilation, it'll probably run cooler than that fixture.
