Hi. I'm growing 5 Aurora Indicas. Today is 5.5 weeks. 1 of them looks extremely further along than the rest. most hairs of turned... plenty of trichs. It also has smaller buds. I checked with a microscope and the trichs seem to be half clear and half cloudy, so I know it still has time left. These are 7-9 weekers. I'm guessing I just need to pick this one earlier (7 weeks). Here are some pics. The first is of the 'further along' weed. The second pic is what the 4 others look like. I'm hoping the other 4 will eventually look like the first one... because, as of now, they don't appear frosty at all.

yae that first one looks alot better, alot tighter. i would let all the trichs get mostly cloudy, and if you see any turning amber then snip it. your decision in the end.

Thanks, but I'm not wondering whether or not I should pick it. I guss I should be more specific. Is this plant better than the rest (in terms of trichs and thc)? or just finishing faster than the rest? Again, the first pick is of the plant in question. The second pic is what the others look like. The others have much larger and just as compact buds. They are just not as frosty and all hairs are white. All are aurora indicas.

you really wont know untill the smoke test, but as far as finishing time\resin production the 1st one looks better, if this is a breeding project continue that one(if you can). but on the other hand the second looks like its more bud and could just take longer to mature. looks only tell part of the story. youve got taste, buzz, smell, density, finishing time all to consider. they look real nice tho.

That's what I was looking for. Thank you! I'm guessing I'll be harvesting the first pretty close to 7 wks... and the rest closer to 9. Unfortunately the clones I took were all from a plant that looks good, but is probably the worst looking of the 5. we'll see how that goes.

are they from seeds or clones? If they all came from the same mother than must be something to do with conditions. But if they all came from seed maybe you should clone off the faster one.

they were all fem seeds from nirvanah. I already took clones off of a different one. When I took the clones, I was unaware which plant would produce the best. Can I take a clone while in bloom?

You can, but i'tll take a very long time to revert back to veg, plus since your so far into flower it would probably be counter productive. But if you dont mind waiting 6 weeks or so for it to revert then try and see what happens.

i plucked off some of the smaller branches on the bottom... some of the ones with worthless buds. I've got 5 new clones... and plenty of time ;-)

Looks like you are good to go when ever you please... at this point, really comes down to personal preference of which type of high you're looking for .

my rule of thumb if you don't have a scope. if it looks done give it another week to 10 days

omg. I know neither of them are done. I'm just saying for 5.5 weeks one of the five looks spectacular. However, it only has half cloudy and half clear trichs... I know it has another week and a half at least, putting it just past 7 wks. The others have another 3-3.5 wks, putting them at 8.5-9 wks.

what surprise would that be tywashere? Will they not be so great?

I just bough my scope from RadioShack for $12.99 today, and one thing to note:

While zoomed in all the way, in a particular area, some trichs are clear, and surrounding ones may be cloudy. However, if you touch the focus just a bit, it will cause the surrounding ones to clear up. So these seeming cloudy trichs were really clear. Make sure that isn't happening to you. :)

The first one is the winner , ir the "keeper" in that batch of seedlings IMO. It's the frostiest by far, and the quickest obviously. I'm sure the other phenos will get more crystal as they mature, but I can just about promise you that one is gonna stay the frostiest. Frosty means potency, and flavor usually too, so I WOULD TRY TO CLONE A LOWER BRANCH AND REVERT IT, YES IT'LL TAKE A WHILE, AND SOMETIMES THEY DON'T MAKE IT, SO TAKE AS MANY AS YOU CAN. Then when it's done, if the clones havn't rooted and are healthy, you can leave some foliage on and revert the whole plant, but I would try to copy that one cause it looks like a better pheno for sure. The other ones that take longer might yield more, but the quality could be alot less. Any time your growing seeds, your gonna have some variation like tha, and there's always 1 that stands out aove the rest. That's why I always clone ALL seedlings so I have a copy of the special one when it does pop up.
They're lookin great your doin' s good job, keep it up!
