Loosing interest

Got lots of vinyl as well. The oldest go back to cab calloway's blues these nylon records where made in the 30's vinyl made the scene in the earlly 60's where made of nylon

I wasn't sure, so i figured I'd take a "teach me" approach. They have made phonograph records out of a remarkable variety of materials, so I allowed for the possibility of a specialty collection. Nylon would not be a bad material: thermoplastic and thus moldable, very durable, and low friction at the stylus. But vinyl proved much cheaper to mold. cn

Not to mention they look ever so sexy when you wear them. I don't have the legs for it but I'm sure Hephaestus can pull it off. :p

I'd love a link. To the best of my knowledge, a shellac compound was used in most 78s and was directly supplanted by vinyl. I am intrigued. cn

I am trying and failing to not invoke a certain obsolete term of approbation. cn

Nylon is amazingly tough. I wonder if you're referring to the shellac compound of which most 78s were made. cn

One hundred quatloo deduction for attempting to jack the thread back to its original topic. cn

By the way, I thought I should mention, it's "losing", not "loosing". Sorry for being trollish, but I have OCD about that kind of thing.
