sorry I did not read whole thread, I started off with 3 gal pots and 600, great to rock out 1 -1 1/2 zips per plant.. 10 3 gal under 1k is do able. I did 8 under 600,but put plants in at diffrent times so every other few weeks could harvest a few..Now it is 18 gal totes with 2 plants per. 3 tots total under 1k and all i can say is wow . plants way bigger and my yeild should be a lot higher. 3 gal pot = 3 foot plant. Now I have 6 footers ;-)
That's cool man most people would be happy with that and you are and that's all that matters! I imagine your yield will get higher with that increased growth. By the way the like buttons now reputation is right next to "Journal this Post". Iuse the same 2 600's, soil, 3 gallon pots but am space restricted height wise so I can't go so big.

I went from using many 2-3gal grow bags.. to 10gal fabric airpots. 5x girls under 2x 600w lights.. I could get away with 4 girls under 2x 600w lights..

I prefer to go larger pots, larger plants.. rather than many smaller ones.

Of Course it Requires longer veg.. But if you do perpetual or have a veg room.. That really does not matter. So where I was getting 2-4oz per 5gal bucket.. I am shooting for 5-7oz per 10gal..

ya its real hard to google your own strains. shit after all it is only one of the most famous and bred with strains ever created. its hard to make the case that i'm the idiot with such glaring oversights. :/

a 3 gallon smart pot will suffice, air-pruning roots reduces the size of needed container, imo. and, flower all. don't kill healthy girls, unless you really have no room.

mine may be no better;)

ya i've only been here a week because i've been growing in the real world while you kids are having a slumber party over here wearing footy pajamas. call me a clown all you want it doesn't make me any worse a grower and the difference is i have the skills to prove it on my own, no "assistants in the grow room" required. stay tuned and get a fork ready because your going to be eating your own words. :)
I didn't wear pajamas at Woodstock!!! The only thing I have assistance with is when my really best asset removes my clothing everynight! Fork already inserted!

It's nice to get back to the thread. I sure hate culling the babies myself. Sometimes I'll sacrifice myself even more and do a lot more turning of pots with a few mor. plants.

as long as air moves freely between them, there's room. and i truly believe a 3 gal smart pot is as effective as a 5 gal nursery pot. unless you are going big......like 5ft tall

Yeah, but you've got the room to grow big plants. The common thing I see on this forum is people in tents or closets who just don't have the room to grow big. I have 12' ceiling in my room but prefer to keep my plants 6' and under. All in 5 gallon pots. I'd rather have more shorter plants then fewer larger plants. Better light penetration and I think you get more bud from 4 5' plants then you do from 3 7-8' plants. As the argument goes though, in my opinion you actually do more harm then good growing a smaller plant in a larger pot.

I use large pots, though do not grow tall girls.. my tallest is 3ft 4ft maybe.. they are WIDE & trained well. just checked, they are 4ft in width.

Having so few girls under my 2x lights, I train them to be all one canopy & short.. kinda looks scrogged, without the net.. I just kept on the training. I personally do not like tall straight up plants..makes me feel like I am wasting light

Ok, but 4' in width is a BIG plant. If left untoched it would have been 7-8' tall. You are still supporting a huge root mass with a plant that big. You need the bigger pot. If you are growing a 4' plant that is lollipopped and maybe topped twice you don't need a 10 gallon pot.
