I think the OP was just screwing around and tried making some hash for fun. Obviously it didn't turn out well, and further suggestions have ensued.

Rosin is super tasty, but I can't bring myself to invest hundreds of dollars on presses and heat plates and filter bags. I get super tasty clean qwiso with about a $20 investment 6 years ago, and $10 per batch of alcohol.

Yeah my $800 rosin press has made me some very expensive personal rosin haha I just had to have it :/

I can respect everyone's preferred smoke method(especially when others respect mine or each other's). I do love when friends offer a yummy rosin dab. Most people I hang with also appreciate yummy qwiso dabs. I don't chill with many snobs :). (Not saying anyone here is, just making conversation)

Maybe I'll try making some qwiso one of these days how does it look when your done? I think my friend used to do that like 7 years ago but I'm sure his methods weren't the best back then sometimes it was pretty good sometimes it was really bad haha I'm only a snob when I have to much bud laying around

Here is a tutorial I did a few years back https://www.rollitup.org/t/thundercats-groooooooow.131193/page-134. I show Step by step how I make my qwiso. Each step has a specific purpose.

My qwiso turns out beautiful. Typically a golden amber shatter. When I first scrape it it's a white crystal. Some times I enjoy it like that but usually I put it in a little piece of parchment and mush it together. Then flatten it into a nice piece of shatter.

Consistancy changes a little depending on the strain I run and the exact RH and temp at the time. I've gotten wax, shatter, and the coveted sugar depending on the variables. Usually it starts as a shatter and then nucleates if it's going to. This doesn't usually happen though. It seems more common with very high RH or if I use fresh frozen material that obviously is high in moisture. The sugar texture came from very high terp strains. Specifically a bubba kush I had for a while, it tasted like coffee and chocolate.

I've never seen 100, I used to get 99% but then they stopped selling it locally. Normally I use 91%, the only difference is a tiny bit of pure water, so it still works great. Maybe it takes a couple hours longer to evap, but I couldn't really tell any difference in performance.

95% everclear works awesome too, but its way more expensive.

Yeah, that's probably what I've seen - 99%. You can order it. It's reasonably priced.

My local Fry's carries it, as does one of the local grow shops. We can't get 95% everclear in Cali.

Yeah 99 is cool, but once I switched to the 91 and didn't notice a change in the product or process I said fuck it and just used that since it was so easy to get.

I think that basically it takes more skill to make good quality qwiso than it does good rosin. Rosin is just SO EASY it's a safe route

Agreed.

It's just the time consumption that I don't like. Regardless of technique. Unless you can afford and have the space for a big press or extractor.

I had guys pressing for me up until a few months ago when they moved up to NorCal. Now I'm sitting on a couple months worth of sugar leaf. Luckily I had some local bakers come through and take a bit off of me.

I really don't think it takes more skull, but you do have to pay attention to the process and follow All the steps to get quality.

It is simple to run qwiso for small batch stuff like I do and many home growers do. It is definitely much harder to scale qwiso runs up larger.

I can rephrase it, it's harder to get golden goodness from qwiso than it is rosin. Yes it's easy enough if you have some simple equip and can winterize, but most people just get a harsh green goo that isnt really dab grade.

I havent really bothered pressing leaf because I just dry ice it for my edibles but to smash bud on a small 3x3 press (around 350-400) I can smash a oz or 2 in a hour pretty easily while watching TV.

I value the fact nothing can spill or burn, and that I can smash a bud and have a dab less than 5 min after turning on the press.

Winterizing is a process done to BHO to remove fats and lipids from the extraction. You basically do an alcohol wash on a BHO extract to clean it up.

To the best of my knowledge you don't winterize alcohol extracts though.

The keys to getting them clean and golden are
1.good material
2.having everything ice cold
3. Doing the washes fast so you don't extract chlorophyll.
4.dont use heat to evaporate

I do my whole wash/extraction process in about 5 minutes. Then filter and evap at room temp with a fan blowing air on the dish.

I took well cured trim and loose bud, crumbled into sieve then worked over the mesh again with fingers till all crumbled. I sieved, tried my darndest to seperate trim from trichs with a bank card and then wrapped double in a sandwich bag. Bag submersed in water that had boiled previously for two mins then taken out and squashed a few times with heavy glass jar then left to dry.

Smoke is very strong even though i douched this up badly. Crumbles rather than burns into fluffy sprinkles.

Leaves then placed in ice water for gumby/gravity hash run - got more from that than i did this kitchen sieve method.

Happy for a first attempt, it all went soft and formed a hard lump from the heat and pressure - next time i use a proper dry sieve screen and dont be a noob :-)

No Sir it's definitely done to BHO. And I've never heard of doing it to qwiso I think you have them reversed. I've done a lot of research on all of this and made a lot of extracts :).

Qwiso doesn't pull fats it pulls chlorophyll, BHO pulls fats but doesn't usually pull chlorophyll. It's based on one being a polar solvent and the other being non-polar. They each extract differently.
