This picture is of two plants that have been trained with the help of a "screen" with horizontal strings every 2". The LST is aided by the strings. When the plant gets above the string a couple inches I bend it down underneath it. This is easier than tying it down for typical LST training and helps support the branches when they get heavy with bud. You continue to train this way until you have a full screen or as many tops as you want. This is a scrog (SCReen Of Green) unlike a sog (Sea Of Green) mentioned above that is numerous plants side by side that are typically put into flower early to produce one main cola on each plant quickly with little branching. Both methods are commonly used to produce higher yields. With typical LST you just tie a string to your pot or a stake or whatever and tie the other end with a loose knot or hook it to the branch you want to pull down and tighten down so its parallel to the medium, so it has the same results as the scrog method, but takes more effort. This closet is approx. 1.5' x 3'. I get from 3-5oz per plant this way. What LST does is opens up the top canopy for light to reach lower branches (and I've been told it triggers a response in the plant that its main cola is in trouble, thus causing it to shoot up a different branch to take the main cola's place).
