Could somebody help me and my bro.he,s got a White widow plant about 5-6 was. Into flower.his top colas are good size.would removing all the small lower buds increase the weight of the upper buds in the end?i always leave all my lower buds on for hash and edibles.he needs as much weight as he can get tho.

i do the same as you do in waiting so i get more for my iso pile. I am sure someone who has run both methods will chime in.

As late as it is for you, it could be a toss up. Grow method dictates this somewhat. For me I was doing SOG and I :lollipopped religiously, If it was getting less than 70% of canopy light I stripped it and stripped it early as possible. I wasn't going for yield though, I was going for cola quality. They do draw energy away from cola growth, that much is a fact.

I recently looked into doing this (4 weeks into flower) and decided against it. Reason is, it could stress the plant and stunt it... or worse it could hermie.
Some white widow genetics are hermie prone. I would leave her undisturbed or go very light on any trimming.

sometimes i will even chop the plant at the popcorn line and shove it back in the tent for another week or two if i have the room. when i do this it usually doesn't take up much space other then the pot since i already removed the top 3/4 of the plant.

yes and no. if your using hps lamps strong lamps. and the plant is so tall the light will not hit the bottom of the plant, so the bottom is shaded. then you need to cut those branches off. pop corn buds form . and when shit goes wrong it usually starts on the bottom shaded area. and yes in this case the plant top buds do get a bit bigger . if your plant has good light the entire thing. just leave it . like a cfl grow. short bushy plant. more branches the better . as long as the light is bright every where . don't trim. the more branches surface area the better the more bud sites . more yield .

I am finishing up my second grow and tried both ways, and my experience says if you're already 5-6 weeks into flower, removing the bottoms probably wouldn't help the top yield that much. What is white widow, like a 9-10 week plant? I would think at this point he would be better off by maybe removing just a few, like the smallest bottom most ones, but taking off too many now would probably hurt yield more than it would help.

I did a couple side by sides both ways; if you have a lot of shaded undergrowth then lollipopping early on can definitely help the colas swell out more (if they can support the weight). Its all about the photosynthesis-- if a plant has a lot of shaded parts, then its going to be expending stored energy (sugars for now and starches for later) on the bottom of the plant that could be going to the top. Watts=weight, but only if you have the right number of plants (or correct space filled) and the plants can fully photosynthesize all the energy you're paying for.
