Lower leafs yellowing- Certain leafs red/purple around edges

Hello, so im in week 3/4 of flowering my outdoor plants. I use a 3-6-6 NPK fertalizer with ph balance included. Around a week ago I noticed the leaf's looked almost glossy, and self diagnosed this as too much nitrogen, so I flushed the plants and that issue seemed to go away. Now I am noticing not only red/purple stems (genetics) but a more than a couple fan leaves are turning light green/yellow and developing a purple tinge around the edges that seems to spread. I have looked on many different sick plant forums and not found an answer.

Also the weather just changed from the 3 month dry spout we have had to colder wet weather. I have heard cold nights can turn the leafs purple but the pictures I looked at were more, blotchy.

Thank you!

Andrew~

Oh I looked at that and the symptoms didnt look quite the same but if thats what you think it is ill give it some.

This is one of the pics I looked at for a magnesium deficiency
I see a little heat stress possible too. Have you given cal mag at all? Using tap water? If yes to either I could be wrong.

But looks magnesium deficient.

All the plants are outdoor grow, the summer days here in bc were around 25-30 degrees (c), now with the temp dropping to around 13 at night and 17 at day, so I doubt heat stress.

Magnesium is included in the fertilizer I use (see below). I have tested my tap water and it seems to be right around 6, and the fertilizer has a ph balance (or so it says)

I havent fed them for about a week as they were getting overfed due to another individual not knowing what they were doing. (but who am i to say haha)

Like I said in the main thread, the leafs were looking glossy so I figured it was nitrogen toxicity and flushed them. that was on the 2nd and I haven't fed them since, just regular water.

You don't use cal mag on soil grows. It's stupid and ridiculously expensive.

Just use some lime. You get it for 5 bucks a bag. You mix about 3 table spoons per gallon in with your soil and you'll never have calcium issues again.

Notice they're not in soil?

You are correct about the temp change and that purpling is most definitely from the temps. It does sound like you may have went too early on the PK boosted feed. Now they appear N hungry and pulling from the leaves causing the yellowing near the lower potion of the plant. Just a suggestion for future grows is wait until you are about done with "plant stretch" before you go to bloom feed. If you want, maybe even do 50/50 veg/bloom feed while in stretch -then feed full bloom feed once stretch is done. Just my .02 Best of luck.

Ok so from what @hotrodharley says, should I be giving it cal mag rn aswell as feeding it? I just gave them a feed today so wont need to for a little while but my main question is really just are my plants going to be ok and not get killed or stunted due to this mistake? And if so is there anyway to correct it? (also no idea where to get calcium magnesium)

Thanks!!

I can see how the fade on the fan leaves can be observed as Magnesium def, but I believe its just from temps. Same pattern and display, just different colors.

So is there anything I should do to them? Also today we are having heavy winds and it actually knocked one of the plants over. I know plants can get wind burn so should I move them?

Not too sure about the wind burn issue (other than indoor plants directly in front of a fan), but if the wind is knocking them over then ya move em somewhere out of the elements. Seeing as how you are already into the fade and the plants are past the stretch (most likely), Id just continue with the 3-6-6 feed you are currently giving them and just ride it out. You'll still get a nice yield, it just might not hit its peak genetic potential or peak yield size before it reaches harvest.

Alright sounds good, thanks!!
