Lowest Temperatures for Dark Period???

My 2 girls have been in veg for almost 4 weeks, I am getting ready to go 12/12 for flower.
Info: NL fem seeds.Temp: 80-83 F with 24/7, 25% H
Botanicare Nutes
What is the lowest temps they could handle, it's winter and the ambient temp with light off could get to 64 F. Can they handle that? Also, they are both supposed to be NL, but the left one has WAY bigger leaves, the right one looks like my last grow (short and bushy).
They are both FEM as I can tell with a magnifier at this stage.I just hope left one is not some crap seed.
Also should I go 18/6 for a week before 12/12.

Thanks

I've had similar issues this winter.. 64f isn't gonna kill em unless sustained for a long period.
I suggest getting a small space heater and running it. 80f is optimal and they will thrive
In them conditions. As far as lighting, I run 18/6 for veg, to save money. I only ever run
24/0 if I am cloning. In either case, spend the 30 dollars. Your yeild will be far greater.
Good luck, happy growing!

64 is perfect for night time temp. The differential in day/night tmp is important imo. !

I have two adjustable 120mm fans for exhaust and intake since my box is small. When I go to dark I will turn off the intake fan so it will be passive. I also will use a small heater and direct it towards the intake. I will try to keep the temps around 68-72. I will go to 18/4 for a week then 18/6. Then switch to my HPS and go 12/12. Thanks for the info.

This was the results of my last op.

I've had no issues with 56F at night, but agreed growth is slowed. I submit that there may be some cold-season phenotypic expression at these temperatures. Many have heard of the anthocyanin showing through more in colder temps (or 20F+ diff between night and day)---manifesting in purple/blue color.
The thing to watch is, when you drop to 64, what does your relative humidity do? are you controlling for humidity? if so you are probably fine. I know outdoor growers who don't harvest until the first frost, claiming the shock boosts resin output.

Best thing to do to avoid extreme temps short of climate control, is to run your lights at night, and keep your dark hours during the day. With the warmer/cooler ambient temps with this cycle it's easier to keep stable temps.

my temps get to 64 for 6 hours but 67 the rest of the time 3 hours when dark starts and 3 hours b4 lights start. same thing with my day time temps 71 then 76 then back down to 71. has to do with my light s timing i imagine once summer is here you can add about 10 degrees to all those temps. i try to get as close to nature as possible with increasing and decreasing temps and lumens and uvb

This thread is testimony to the fact that advice is nothing but opinion.

MY opinion is that 64 is perfectly fine and so is 60. I would never try to raise it above that, trust me - the girls love it. I would be more concerned with 83 in light. NL is a heat resistant strain, but 83 had better be at the very top of the foliage and under the light. 83 a couple inches down can equal over 90 at the top of the foliage, and that is too hot.

oh yeah my temps can get down below 60 to 50 something as soon as they warm up and thats the key they will grow. if your concerned your soil wont warm up with the lights you need some insulation between your floor and plants. or hell run a higher night temp up to you. i dont think night temps affect growth unless its below 55 thats the normal soil temp at 6 ft below ground.

My girlz did fine @ 52-55F. Lights on at nite / off during the day. Brought out some purples in the bud.
Wouldn't want it below 50F imo.:leaf:

Thought a heater would be needed but the girlz are growin good. Probly a little stunted but thats aight.:leaf:

This is madness , I never let it drop below 68 , I hate when it gets that cold. Preferably never lower than 72. Trust me. Unless you want to stunt growth and yield significantly.

Anyone who grows in winter has had night time temps below 68 and they all report plants do fine. If you have some evidence for this "growth stunting" theory - now would be the time to present it.

Ya 68 is fine. What do you think happens outdoors like temp never dips to 68 at night in cali or other med states during flowering and people grow monsters. My veg/mother cab is at 60 to 65deg in winter and they grow to much I wish they would be stunted.
