Ok. This is my third attempt at growing, second time indoor.

I figured I'd make a journal, in the chance that someone looking to grow the same thing can see how one trial of them works out, mine.

Fox Farms Ocean Forest (FFOF)
perlite, about 1/3
vegged with 26 watt 6500k for about 2 and a half weeks. 7 out of ten have survived.

the furthest 3 along just started flowering. Keep in mind this is my first time seeing flowering, so although I've seen pictures, Its still all new to me.

pictures: there is one picture of the setup (I moved the lights to see the plants) and the rest are various shots of the 3 that have started flowering.

i think you have a couple males there,...sorry man....im pretty sure those are pollen balls..your 3rd pic is a def male. that sucks.

yeah that's what I am afraid of. I was planning on waiting for a week or so in order to make sure it is totally male or female.

Would that be too long of a wait, will the males open up their pollen pods?

no..id at least get rid of the one thats in your 3rd pic. but look at the bright side, males always show first. that means the other 4 are probably fems...keep your head up.

damn.. you are right I think. I have to move them now, one of the plants has about 40 sacs, and like 10 of them look opened. the other 2 have like, maybe a few pod looking things, I still have hope for them to somehow be female.
the last 4 have been growing slow.

I'm so afraid that some pollen got out and is on every single plant there.

Maybe try to seed one of your females out so you do not hav to keep buying seed. I plan on doing that ouside this spring. Going to try to get three harvest out of them. So I will be around. Good luck.

That may be bad I hope that you caught it in time that would really suck. Think I might try to get some of there seed but if you hav that many male thats a lot of money for that small of a grow.

So bout time for an update.
of the 7 plants, 6 have shown their sex. 4 male, 2 female.

I plan on collecting pollen from the strongest male. can I just pull off those pods and put them in a bag and squeeze them when I want pollen to brush on a femal bud?


pictures are of the females and the undetermined one.

im not sure, im still on my first indoor, never pollenated, but your plants look great. keep us updated, watchin you grow will help me later alot.

cool now that I know I'm helping I'll post a little more info.

Its in a closet with the door always open
temps now are about 65
6 26 watt cfls (2700k) on the 2 females and 1 undetermined plant. (today the plants are noticably bigger, and there are a bunch of white hairs on the females. the one is still undeterminable though.)

no nutrients yet, just whatever is in FFOF.

I have a 400w hps, but I just sent it back to HTG supply because it broke. hoping to have it back by next friday.

will post more pictures sometime in this next week

your setup is the same as mine too. Minus the cfls. i run hps all the way through. keep the updates comin!!

76-78 is the biggest plant
79-80 is the second biggest
81-82 is the baby

so 3 females out of 7 seeds, can't complain. was really bankin on the baby.

yeah, the baby is only about 1.5-2 inches high, but so much undergrowth. Moved the lights up and it has grown

Hi how are the plants doin now? Im growin the dwarf mix to. They just sprouted today. Hope your grow goes well i'l keep an eye on it. Link's in the sig if you want a look.

I took my male out at about 4 weeks (before he was mature enough for the pollen buds to start opening). I put him seperately and then collected some of the yellow pollen when he was ready. The little pollen pods (the balls on the males!) will open up and if you put a pice of paper/foil under a little bundle of the pods when theyre ready and just give the plant a little tap you should get plenty of pollen fall out onto the paper/foil. I then used a small make-up brush to put a bit of pollen on a couple of my buds. I didnt put puch pollen on at all coz i didnt want many seeds. I got 12 seeds off 2 plants. Hope that helps. Many thanks for the info QB, I was wondering how exactly to collect the pollen in the easiest fashion, looks like your method is the easiest. + rep

I think I may go for a few more seeds so I'll probably pollinate 2 buds on each plant.

oh, and did the buds you pollinated were they mostly seed or was their smokeable bud too?
