Lowryder 2, 250w HPS grow

hey guys, this is my first time posting and my first grow, figured i might as well post up and c if i can get any good advice
today is Day 33
i am using:
joint dr. Lowryder 2 feminized seed
250w HPS grow light
24/0 light sched
foxfarm grow big, foxfarm tigerbloom
idk the PH
ocean forest soil w/ about 30% added perlite

watering the plant every 3 days, and have used the foxfarm grow big twice, the first time i added nutes was a disaster and i ended up w/ some serious nute burn, 2 days after the nute burn she went about 3 days w/o light cause of some tech problems, but the plant has recovered sense and seems to be doing well. If any experienced growers can let me know if my plant is doing well plz comment lol. like i said before, this is my first time growing and im kind of just shootin in the dark.

In my experience, autos don't need much nutes. I only fed mine 1/2 strength once a weeks and that was plenty and I grew in promix which is pretty inert. I never used FFOF soil, but from what I understand there is already quite a bit of nutes in it. Stop the grow big (veg nutes) and only use the flowering nutes from now on.

When I grew their Easy Ryder (Lowryder 2 x Auto AK47) they started flowering at about 3 weeks on an 18/6 light schedule. I think you should cut the light back some also. Even though they say they can be grown on a 24/0 light schedule, I think 20/4 or even 18/6 would be better. They look really good though man.

thanks for the feedback! yeah the next watering its due for some Nutes nd yeah ill use the Tigerbloom, how much do u think i should use? 1/4 strength to start it off?

Why did you choose the low ryder? Supposedly VERY low yield and lacks potency...

only because from what ive read, Lowryder 2 is a very easy plant to grow...which it is ha, ive done next to nothing it seems like
i am expecting around 1oz-1 1/2oz, but really what more can u ask for from a plant that is harvested only after 60 days but crossing my figures and hoping for the best

Sonar, i have 2 Easy Ryders growing atm, they are about 1 week in. I will post a pic of them nd my grow room shortly, maybe u can give me some tips

also, do u guys think i will be alright replanting 1 of the Easy Ryders to its own pot in 4 days? is there any special technique to replanting?

Well, I grew my ER outdoors this summer, but I'd be glad to help you as best I can.

For starters, from now on, start seeds in their own container. A lot people like to use those plastic beer cups. After about 2-3 weeks then you can transplant them to their own containers. With the smaller cups, wait until the soil dries out, then gently grip the stem between your index and middle finger (or whatever feels comfortable for you) and flip the whole thing upside down. If the soil is dry, the entire root mass will come out with a few light taps on the bottom of the cup. Before you do this, have the new pot full of soil ready to go.

To be honest, I'm not sure the best way to go about transplanting in your situation. You're going to want to get as much of the root mass as possible. Even though those ER plants look small, I can almost guarantee you that the roots already run at least 6" down into the soil, so you are going to want to make sure you dig deep enough. I would transplant soon before the roots get too deep and/or they start growing into one another. You're going to want to use at least 2 gallon buckets for each plant. 3 gallon would probably be better though.

Finally, feeding. Like I said, I never used FFOF, so I can't give you a clear answer. All I know is that I grew in promix, which is pretty much void of nutrients, and I didn't even THINK about feeding until they were 3 weeks old. Even then, I only did 1/2 strength once a week and that was plenty. Considering you are growing in a nutrient rich medium, you can probably feed even less. I'm willing to bet that if FFOF is as good as ppl say it is, you can probably do the entire grow without feeding them at all...but don't quote me on that one.

One last thing, don't expect those ER to finish in 8 weeks from seed. Mine went 9-10 weeks from seed, and actually they probably could have went a little longer. Then again, I did mine outside in Aug/Sept, so inside they might finish a little sooner.

hey so i went to water my plant today and it was drooping alot! i can't put any pics up atm but its done it before and always after i water it percs back up...should i be worried?

Worried? No, that's normal. I'd actually consider it a good thing since drooping means you are letting the soil dry out. Overwatering is one of the most common mistakes for a first time grower. Not saying wait til they are half dead to water, but if they are drooping a little bit in between waterings you probably aren't overwatering. Just don't let them get too dry to the point that they start wilting.

I like the lift test. Pick up the container and take notice of the weight. With a little practice you'll know if it need water just by the weight of the bucket.

DAY 35
well here are some pics i took today, the plant is getting very bushy and im starting to get worried lol...i have looked at alot of grow journals for Lowryder 2 and i have yet to see a plant that resembles mine. it seems to be healthy but w/ all those little leaves i feel like the bud spots arnt getting enough light, lemme know what u guys think. Also some of the bud spots on top are getting yellow, could this be because the plant is to close to the light? i moved it down about 1 inch today hopefully that corrects it

Dude I think you're worried over nothing. Other than what looks like a little nute burn, I think the plant looks pretty good. What are the temps like in there? Also, are you still on a 24/0 light schedule? If you are, I'd really suggest cutting back to at least 20/4.

yeah ur prob right, what are the advantages of the 20/4 light sched? just curious cause i don't have a timer on the light and would have to do all of this manually for the nxt 20 days and could get hecktick...im not against it just curious to its advantages

I think it helps with the flowering process. You also use less electricity that way and I've heard (not 100% sure though) that there is better root growth during the dark cycle.

Here's a link to the Lowryder Grow Guide from the Joint Doctor. It recommends an 18/6 light schedule. He's the creator of Lowryder seeds, so I've been taking his advice. I guess doing it manually is possible, but I'd say 99% of us use timers. They have cheap ones at wal mart for under $10. Just make sure to get a 3 prong one if whatever you have plugged in a 3 prong plug. It's worth a small investment rather than doing it manually. Besides being a huge pain in the ass, you want the consistency of a timer.

Yeah they have digital ones with all the bells and whistles for more, but the basic mechanical ones are like $10 and are fairly reliable. I think once you start cutting the lights back they will flower much quicker. Keep us posted. Did you transplant your Easy Ryders into their own pots yet?

yes, did that yesterday...got some nice tips from the local Hydroponic guy. Monday ill throw pics up of the whole opperation...the ER's are growing very very quick lol, very excited to see how they turn out

buds are getting thicker...let me know what u guys think, took the pics in a hurry but the plant is deff showing some nice budding, and only at day 41. Is it the last 2 weeks that the plants really start to flower?

here are some more pics of some of the budding that is going on, sorry about the camera quality its from a phone. when harvest comes closer ill have some HD close up pics that will be nice the plant is responding very well to the Foxfarm Tigerbloom, is it a bad idea to use it every time i water?

Im going to start my lowryder grow just after christmas, its my first grow any tips? and is it hard to keep the plant healthy?
