I started out with the 12'' blue walmart stones which were ok....I go these 6''round/flat stones from petco. They are heavy and stay in place in the tank by themselves, which is nice and make fine bubbles... got one under each plant in a 10gallon container...But check out these stones i found online, theres a few different kinds, they are commercial ones though, wonder if you need a bigger air pump for these kinda stones?
 
Hey roll. I had one of those round ones but it was 3 in or so. It did work good but got clogged kinda fast. I think with that design stuff settles on the stone and clogs it faster.Those on that link look good. You would probable need a bigger air supply for those large ones. I have not looked in a while but the place I get the stones from has lots of stuff like that. Large air pumps and and all kinds of different types of diffusers. They also have great material for making filters and screens for hash.

You could have ones like my 16+ week plants. Waiting to see how the clones of one of those does. I know I did things that slowed them down though.

yah man once i get another crib and get moved then ill be growin again... i need to find the best possible way to keep a plant short as hell and get it harvested in less then 2 months... i was thinkin about throwin some seed in some rockwool and put it directly under a 12/12 150W HPS light... i got some bag seed here that i want to grow asap but my roomie is movin out and i will get a new one in a month n half and i dont know if he will be a snitch or not
 
I've seen some people start 12/12 from seed. Never watched to see what happened though. Do a search I'm sure you will see plenty of info. Some of those new super fast strains might work.

eyy wats goin on man... it is a pain in the ass to have to sex your plants. but after you do it. you pick out the strongest best lookin fem of your babies from seed. then you have a mother(s) with stronger DNA than the fem seeds mommas....Pe@ce man......
 
hey man. 12/12 from seed takes forever. if speed is your goal dont do that. trust me. i tried i twice. they wont even start to flower for like 2 months. go with a feminized auto strain. its the only plant that could finish that fast. if you want them really short and just bud put only a small amount of light on them until they start to flower then hit them with tons of light. but even my lowryfers are 2 feet tall for the 2 biggest. but they are definately the fastest plants i have seen. and dont listen to people who say the strain is weak. my resin is coming on like white widow. lol. well maybe not quite but the resin content is def there. and the smell is the best part. kinda like lemons. i havnt even finished but would recommend. as for large air pumps you can get them at any saltwater aquarium store. starting at around 150 dollars you can get really nice industrial 1s. theyrre prob 10 regular pumps. some of them have a 1 inch outlet. lol. maybe too big? lol. but they have all sorts. just try any online saltwater aquarium store. i'll put up pics of my hempstars tomorrow. they have nearly died off and are nothing but massive buds on stems. lol. but i'm going to keep them going untill all amber trichs. Ive picked 200+ wet grams so far. about the amount off the small plant. damn. i must have got about 6 dry ounces off those 3 hempstars. well when they are done. now just got to wait about 3 weeks on the lowryders.
 
hey man. if i choose a 12/12 strain thats what i'm going to do. i just mean that even though you are going to clone and wont have to pay for seeds anyways its still worh it. i def want a strong female mother. going to find 1 in my next batch. def want to start cloning. much easier. but the lowryder are so easy to grow without having to worry about the lights. not sure which is less work. pulling the males or covering the plants when the dark comes? i might just spend 1 day pulling males with the lowryders and then not have to think about the light. thats the best part. mine are not even close to dark during lights out but they bud the same anyways. maybe theyd go faster but with a few different strains i've grown they are still killing the rest for speed. might just pull the males. we'll see how they yield.
 
yea totaly man. thats what my firs 4 crops were... the bagseed around me is all some sorta lowryder autoflowering strain. grows so nice under minimum light, produces alot short as hell....
you throwin any pics up....... im tryin to get some tonight when my buddy comes over for lost.. Pe@ce....
 
this is them 2 minutes ago. lol. switched the angle of the lights and turned the tub around so the other side could get some hps light for the next week untill i change the res. there obviously in order of height. easier to keep the lights close. and the pic of the runt. dont know what happened there? some weird pheno? lol
the towel is just there cause i dropped a few drops of water on my cabinet. its cheap mdf and will dissinagrate in a minute if any water gets on it. the hempstars are already in the dark and still look like the last picks of them. ive harvested alot but its not that noticable. here they are

its the same age. they are all i think at 50 days from seed today. the buds are just starting to form the nice bats. that runt just grew like that. i figure with a newer strain you'll get them. but it does make me lose prob a half ounce at least. i know they wont be done in 60 days though. i dont think any strain can finish proper in 60. i might leave these for 80. i have plenty to smoke off the others for the next few months so i'm good for now. the leaves seem to die as fast as they grow. half the leaves i seem to pull off everyday but they always grow back. post some pics here if you want. i know the dieing leaves are normal i think because amcs had tons of brwn leaves but the yield was really good still and they looks proper so i'm not to worried about it.
I gave a dose of veg nutes this res change to see if they would use the nitrogen and maybe green up abit. by the next time they brown they will be done. hopefully in 2 days they will lose the nitrogen def. and look nice dark green. but i dont want tons of nitrogen in the end just because it affects taste alot. just this dose should fix it. we'll see. post some pics if you want. seeya

ive only used my nutes. never used those. but id go 50% for 3 days then maybe full. i like lots at the beginning to get them used to it. but do what you think is best. but they cn always handle SOME nutes right away and climb fast. just watch them. good luck and take pics when you get them in. seeya.
 
Nice 1982, those are coming along well. my big lr2 is still going strong, spots and all. I'm a little concerned about leaving for the weekend. bought a more powerful pump and some airstone strips with suction cups, to generate more bubbles to the bottoms of the cups. I saw rayjunyor's set up and thought that maybe a deeper basket or cup like he did might also be better, i'll see, not sure what size the holes are. Hopefully something will work for a few days. I put my 400 watt hps light up in the growtent tonight, on the bagseed plants, now I'm worried about them burning up over the weekend. I'm not going to leave until i'm sure that won't happen. I post some more pics tomorrow. can't wait to see what the temperature will be with the new lamp, it has a glass bottom to the light and flanges on the sides, and the ballast is on the outside instead of inside with the 150 watt, so i'm wondering if it will be much hotter than the 150 watt. If so i'll hook up some ducts and an exhaust fan and carbon filter before i go. I'll have to run to the nearest hydro store and spend a ggod sum, but it will be well worth it, can't back down now.
