So i finally descided im growing hydro! either gonna use the deep pod flood&drain system.
Esoteric Hydroponics 2 Pod System
or
sog-hydroponics.co.uk
search 4 '4 POD - BUBBLEPOD SYSTEM'
(they said they can do a deal on 2)

cos im using a smaller cupboard now im only using a 2pod, however growing 2 plants in each pod.

Its getting close to grow time. man i cant wait, i think this hobby is gonna stick

I need some ideas/critisism/advice, as i understand how thorough i must be to grow successfully.
Well lowryder is crossed with ruderalis so shares it's 'auto-flowering' characteristics so you won't have to switch your lights to 12/12 to start the flowering stage. The light spectrums you've chosen (red) for your lights are specifically for the flowering stage, what are you going to use for vegetative growth? I'd suggest you might want to think about getting 1 x 125w Enviro Blue and 1 x 125w Enviro red, and use them together to cover the full PAR spectrum that the plant requires. If you're only growing one at a time, this will be more than enough light for your requirements. You might also want to take a look at some of the smaller 250/400w HPS (full spectrum bulb) systems.

Also, I'd strongly suggest you ignore hydro for the moment and get a straight forward soil grow under your belt first - soil is far more forgiving of mistakes than hydro where much faster growth is possible, but the faster the plant grows the more precise ph levels and nutrient values have to be and the more can go wrong.

You've not mentioned ventilation and odour control which is just as important as light and nutrients - plants need co2 to grow and unless you change the air in your growspace regularly enough the plant will use up all the available co2 in the air and growth will stop. Fresh air circulation and replenished levels of c02 are vital for healthy plant growth.

As I mentioned, my advice would be to forget hydro for the moment and focus your mind and attention on getting the basics of a soil grow right first.

Good luck with whichever direction you end up going in.

basically... grow as much as possilbe. figure out how many pots you can get in there in say a 1 gal size and grow in that.

watering.. very little at first and after they sprout, only when the dirt is dry to about an inch down or so.

lights.. more is better
I wouldn't grow in anythig smaller than a 3 gal. pot. 5 gal would be better. The root ball needs lots of room!

hey just wondering, where are you getting an envirolite for 55 dollars? dont you need a special outlet or something for it to work? is it self ballasting? thanks a lot for your help. i have been looking into them, and debating between that or a 400watt hps. thanks

hey guys

babygro thanks for that..

well i have moved on quite a bit from the original plan. done a lot of research!! Growin hydro still, in a 4 pod bubbler, with a large res so ph and nutes should be sustainable, using a 250w cfl (enviro equivelant) in red spectrum as its auto flowering plant. Will use Co2 fermentation technique.. The grow closets slightly smaller now. cos im using cfl's im thinking theres not gonna be to much heat? still can leave door a jar when lights out, and have a fan set up? and smell...'apparently' low's dont give of a lot of smell unless they are agrivated. but will be using odour controls

highbred.net is super helpful for low's!!!!!!!

sup vandewalle! £55 for a 200w red envirolite, sorry not dollars. but i found a 250w equivelant at greenfinger-hydroponics.co.uk. You need to buy a reflector to mount it in. or a hanging cord.

will be starting the grow soonnn!

hey just one thing, that 2 pod system that you are planning on buying could be built if you are handy enough, and at £150 it would be well worth it to buy the parts you need and do it yourself, you could save like £100 proabably, if you shopped at wallmart lol. im planning on building a system myself, after i get a good understanding of hydro.

the cheapest way to go would to be to buy a big plastic container with a lid, buy some net pots, an air pump and a water pump and you have a good hydro system

plastic container £5
nets pots £2.50

air pump 7.99
water pump 17.99
hose and t joints £5

total cost £38.48
then all you need after that is a light and a timer and ph and nutrient measuring kit and obviously nutrients

hehehe NGT so i just read ur messages a day after i went out and bourght a plastic container, net pots, water heater, a 180lph pump, a 250w cfl, reflector, hanging chain, timer, C3 film, rockwool, ph down, hydrometer, ph tester, advanded nutrients bloom, formulex, lowryder 2 seeds! great minds eh!

Du guys know about C3 film? its awesome! (95% reflective and stops infra red camera detection! i.e police helicopters).

Currently...Lined my cupboard with film, fixed light into reflector.. and hung it with chain

seeds and pump still to arrive

need to cut out holes in container, its a pretty thick lid!

hey vandewalle gd luck dude!

what pump did you order you need two pumps to run a bubbleponic system, you will need a water pump at first to feed the plant while the roots are not long enough to get down into the res.

its a air pump that sits inside the tank, i tested it today and it works well. I made a aeroponics propogator today.. to start them off, its a smaller container. will post pics if wanted.

ey ILoveUMaryJane its greenfinger-hydroponics.com(co.uk) i think. wicked stuff!... lol a lot of em fly past my window looking for the thugs of london.

it comes like £5 a metre and its 1.25m wide

have you got a water pump, as when the plants are young the roots will not reach down into the res for nutrients, so you will need to feed them to start for the first few weeks in veg after that bubble away, for the system you made you wont need a massive pump, probably pick one up for about 15 quid.

The propagator is a aeroponics setup, pretty much the same as my full size one, except the container is a lot smaller, with the water line directly reaching the net pots, bubbling away at the rockwool. i can lower the water line when the roots grow through. im using the air pump with it. going to get another when its time to tranfer the babys.

what du reckon mate?
where should the waterline reach on the pots, should it partly sub-merge the rockwool?

just started 4 seeds off today using the paper towel method.
growing 4 in propogator for 2 weeks (lowryder's remember) till they sex...then moving females over into big system.

this way i can keep a constant stream of green....

btw i was just re-reading this thread... its long and now a bit confusing to whats going on... so i will clear up what im doing:

Growing in a clothes cupboard.
Growing Hydroponicly
Growing 4 plants at a time
Its a homemade system practicaly identical to stealth hydros
Im propograting 4 seeds a time in a homemade mini bubbler for 2 weeks (lowryder's take around this long to show sex). after 2 weeks im placing the females into the main bubbler. so say 1 female comes from the 4 seeds, she goes into the main bubbler and the 3 males are disgarded.
4 seeds are started again in the mini bubbler, 2weeks on and 2 females are found. the 2 males are disgarded and the 2 females are transplanted to the bigger container, where the, now 4 week old 1st female is. So there are now 3 females in the main bubbler. 2 two week olds, and a 4.

Im using a 250 watt Cfl just like an envirolite. (made by 'Grow King'). (greenfinger-hydroponics.co.uk)

Nutrients..

Formulex in the mini bubbler
Advanced Nutrients Bloom in Main Bubbler

I went hydro and am using 2 65 watt cfl's equivalent of 500 watts on top plus 12 vertical T 40 shop lights. All in a compact area. have little heat to vent and am light tight. After the fire with the vapor's fluor and hydro are the way to go. Tip when researching at shops you are growing tomatoes. They have the exact same needs as cannabis and grow similar. I have been using worm poo for my nutrients and things could not be growing better
